Brief summary of the article
The High Court of Australia has refused Giggle for Girls and founder Sall Grover special leave to appeal a Federal Court ruling that they discriminated against transgender woman Roxanne Tickle by excluding her from the women-only app. The decision leaves in place the Federal Court's finding of direct discrimination and the increased $20,000 damages award to Ms Tickle, with the High Court also awarding costs against Giggle and Ms Grover. The case has prompted debate over the Sex Discrimination Act, gender identity protections and women-only spaces.
Main Points of the Article
"The years-long legal saga began in 2021 when Ms Grover personally removed Ms Tickle's profile from the app, after AI software designed to filter out males cleared her."
"Any appeal [...] has insufficient prospects of success to warrant a grant of special leave to appeal."
"These protections extend to all women, including transgender women."

This really is good news, and to be fair the decision really had to go this way otherwise it would defy all logic.
But then again we live in uncertain times
