Cisgender women at the Kansas State Fair are facing long lines at the restroom — and signs warning them not to use the men's bathrooms, even if those lines are significantly shorter.

That's just one of the ripple effects of Kansas's draconian anti-trans bathroom law. S.B. 244, which became law in February after state Republican lawmakers overrode Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly's veto, requires all government buildings in the state to segregate spaces like bathrooms and locker rooms by sex and bans trans Kansans from using facilities that do not align with the sex they were assigned at birth. Anyone who violates the law could face up to six months in jail.

At the Kansas State Fair, which runs from September 11 to 20, visitors are seeing reminders of the law every time they try to use the fairgrounds' multi-occupancy restrooms.

"Pursuant to Kansas Senate Bill 244, this multiple-occupancy private space is designated for use by individuals of the corresponding sex," signs posted outside men's and women's bathrooms state, according to local ABC affiliate KAKE. "Single-occupancy/family restrooms are available for individuals who require assistance or additional privacy in select locations."

Soooo...if I'm reading it right, men can sue women who use the men's room for $1,000. That just about covers the  cost of your turkey leg and deep fried butter!

While in Germany, doing my best to drink every last drop of German beer, this sort of thing was never an issue. Countless times, the women's restroom had a long line waiting to get in. There were always one or two ladies standing there doing the wee-wee dance. Eventually, they realized it was approaching emergency proportions, and they just went into the men's room, did their thing, and left.

No confrontations. No protests. No lawsuits.

Everyone understood that they just wanted to wee. They weren't ogling the guys at the urinals. They went in, used a stall, washed their hands, and got back to drinking with the rest of us.

Someday, I hope the prudes in America will wake up and realize that their sexual hangups are not shared with the rest of the world.

Lori, I came out of a one stall mens toilet this morning and appologised to a woman waiting to go in, in Greece, thinking I had accidently gone into the womens toilet.

No, it was she in the mens because the queue was shorter.

It just makes sense

I wonder what happens in the "family home"?  Shared bathroom?  Door closed?  Any problems happening in this "family home" in regards to the shared bathroom?

We used to have separate mens bathrooms at work where any managers go to use one very clean sets of facilities while workers like me got poor, dirty facilities.

Women on the other hand had to walk long distances to find their facilities. (It was a dirty male dominated industrial, vastly spaced, work place)

One day I was delivering a report I wrote to one of the managers and then needed the bathroom, so I ducked into a managers bathroom.

I did my business, washed up and was leaving only to be told I shouldn't be in there.

I asked why? and added is what comes out of you somehow different than me? (But in crude terms)

Stopped him dead in his tracks and from then on I used whichever toilet was nearby
