Christians threaten lawsuit if school doesn't let parents opt kids out of trans teacher's class

A right-wing law firm has threatened to sue North Carolina's Wake County Public School system if it does not allow parents to opt their kids out of a class taught by a transgender teacher.
The Thomas More Society — a prolific Christian nationalist litigator with a history of cases challenging marriage equality, abortion rights, and President Joe Biden's election in 2020 – sent a letter to the school on September 15 with a list of demands and gave officials 15 days to implement them before it sues.
In addition to allowing parents to opt their kids out, the firm says the school must agree not to discipline students for using incorrect pronouns for the teacher in question and must agree that no employee can retaliate against a student who opts out of the class or other discussions of LGBTQ+ issues.
The letter demanded the school provide formal assurance that faculty and staff will not discuss sexuality and gender identity with students, "except as allowed by state law, and only with prior parental notice and a parental right to opt out of such discussion." It also said the school must provide written assurance that the trans teacher will not be allowed in restrooms or locker rooms used by students (though schools typically have separate facilities for staff anyway).
The firm argues that the school is legally obligated to provide these accommodations based in part on the Supreme Court ruling in Mahmoud v. Taylor, a 2025 decision that said schools must allow religious parents to opt their students out of classes containing LGBTQ+ content.

I'm just shaking my head in a kind of silent disbelief at how utterly stupid (certain groups of) people obviously are. Not to mention how strange such SCOTUS rulings seem to be, when viewing them from this side of the pond.

What I don't understand is why the parents are so offended by this even have their children attend that school. Surely they will see the teacher in the halls or somewhere on the school grounds. Oh, the horror! Their babies will be exposed to seeing something the parents disagree with.
They should remove their children from school altogether and send them to a monastery or, better yet, homeschool them so they can be brought up in the proper bigoted environment they desire.
But if they do that, then they couldn't sue anybody and hope for thousands of dollars in settlement income.
