Trans actor Elliot Page recorded a powerful PSA while participating in a protest outside NYU Langone Health, one of three New York City hospitals that recently caved to the Trump administration by ending gender-affirming care for trans youth.
On September 23, Page stood amongst protestors and, in partnership with the Gender Liberation Movement, explained the administration's "coordinated assault on health care."
"For decades, hospitals like NYU Langone, Mt. Sinai, and New York Presbyterian provided care for trans youth, but earlier this year, they abruptly cut it," Page said.
"Despite state-wide protections and expressed support for this care from officials like New York Attorney General Tish James and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, these institutions caved to threats from Trump's Department of Justice. Mount Sinai even agreed to establish a detransition fund – the often coercive ending of gender transition, which uses the same logic as conversion therapy."
As protestors chanted in the background, Page explained that the Trump administration's reasoning for being against gender-affirming care is "based on lies."
