Alex Bollinger (6 Oct 2026)
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito said that the 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges decision, which legalized marriage equality in all 50 states, was "perhaps the decisive point in our nation's turn against religious liberty."
Obergefell allowed same-sex couples all over the US to get married, but it didn't force anyone who opposed same-sex relationships for religious reasons to marry someone of the same sex. Nevertheless, Alito, who dissented in that decision, has been telling private audiences for years that LGBTQ+ people merely having the right to marry the person they love is an attack on conservative Christians' ability to express themselves in public because they might face criticism from others.
In a 2021 speech, he compared anti-LGBTQ+ Americans to Catholics who were discriminated against in England when that country broke away from the Catholic church. They "had been so beaten down that they were 'a people who shunned the light of day.' They were 'found in corners, and alleys, and cellars, and the housetops, or in the recesses of the country,'" he wrote.
"What I predicted in my dissent is coming to pass," he added, referring to how he predicted that conservative Christians would be driven out of public life because of the legalization of marriage equality.

What a backward idiot.
Allowing freedom for all does not discriminate against any.
Because any is included in the all.

Last time I checked, people can still be whatever religion they want. You just can't make that choice for anyone else.
