Title: Fish and Chips
Post by: ChrissyRyan on October 17, 2026, 02:27:43 PM
A good British fish and chips meal can be so satisfying!

Here is a good one in Flagstaff, AZ; but, there are other good ones too stateside.

The chippy is a little more wide than a window and a door (see pictures at its Web site.)

At the British chippy places, if you just order "fish and chips" what type of fish is served up by default?
I realize that you may be able to order a specific type of fish also.

Usually cod, that's what most people expect. You can typically get haddock, plaice, and rock, too.

Cod really is the best for Fish and chips and is what I expect when I have them here in the United States. Hugs

Cod is standard. I actually prefer haddock but they never have them ready so you have to wait while they fry to order.

There is a chippy in tynemouth that is really nice that does jumbo battered tiger prawns and thai fishcakes. They are defintely a bit more cheffy but my god their tartare sauce is the best I've had. It's lush!

@big kim yeah £14-£17 is normal up here. It used to be a cheap takeaway but now it's special treat only.
