I have few real perfumes and several scented oils that I like
I'm just curious of others experience. I generally don't like wearing a perfume if I need to go someplace the next day, as often they still linger a bit even after showering. My wife tells me not to worry too much as most people will just think it rubbed off, which has happened. Gave my wife a hug, and then smelled her all the way to the store.
Then there are supposed gender natural/unisex scents. I just don't believe it. I really dislike every male fragrances I've ever smelled. There are scents aimed at women I don't like either, but usually because they are too strong.
I guess I'm curious if others have scents they like that really are unisex, or mellow scents that smell pretty, but only for a handful of hours.

perfumes:
- Mugler "Alien Goddess"
- My wife bought this for me, I love it, but unisex it is not
- Maison Francis Kurkdjian "Gentle Fluidity Gold"
- This one is suppose to me unisex
- Dior "j adore"
- still on the fence about this one, first several times I really liked it, the last time I didn't, worst thing. I've now lost the sample in my closet. I'll try it again if I every find it.
oils:
- vanilla(s)
- For some reason I love vanilla scents
- Egyptian Goddess
- This seems to morph into something I'm not fond of after several hours.
- This is also suppose to be unsex, and is the only perfume I can think of that I can identify out in public, just never on a male

Now I will admit I paid a lot for this perfume and I LOVE it. I like Carolina Herrera Very Good Girl.
I don't wear it much because...I have no idea why.
Anyway it makes me feel amazing it screams woman and I need that.
I am not good at describing scents so this is from her site:
Very Good Girl is the flirtiest Good Girl of them all. Juicy red currant and exotic lychee burst into a seductive rose heart before melting into warm vanilla and earthy vetiver. Sweet, sensual and irresistible, it's made for every moment you want to stand out.
This is not unisex so I would avoid if you need it for boy mode.

@tammy753 I just spent the last 20 minutes going down a rabbit hole looking at fragrancenet.com purely based on your description. I think I'll stick it on my list of things to try when I have some spare change, but I just tossed 2100 at my 14ish year old car and still gotta repair my other car before winter hits. Being an adult sometimes just sucks.

When I was searching for a scent I liked, my cousin gave me very good advice. Go to the Dollar Store. They have cheap cosmetics and perfumes that you can experiment with. She has two different perfumes that she likes, and she layers them.
Spray the perfume into the air and walk under it as it settles. It keeps the scent light and not overpowering. She then repeats the process with the second scent.
While sniffing perfume bottles at the Dollar Store, I found a scent I really like. I think I paid three dollars for it. I have been using it for almost three years now. I don't wear it often, but sometimes I want to smell nice as well as look nice.

I splurged on it. I wanted it after smelling it in a magazine.
