Title: What are you?
Post by: Terra on January 24, 2008, 05:00:29 PM
I got asked this (in a friendly manner) by one of my friends. She said that I can't be butch because I wear makeup and like to look pretty. But I'm not a girly girl because I prefer pants and darker clothing. It didn't really bother her, but she said it might be why some people have a hard time figuring me out.

So what does that make me? Me of course!  :-*

You are simply you.  Awesome!!!  You are comfortable with who you are, and that's all that matters :-)

I would think that makes you 'angel' just like who I am makes me 'kat.  You are who you are, a unique creation, a child of stardust, a person of the universe.  If they can't take it.  Find other people.

Confused? ???

Sorry lisagurl, I think I was drinking to much when I got on my computer this afternoon. ;)

I was just relating that according to my friends, I don't fit into any neat category such as butch, girly girl, or whatever. I think this is what everyone needs to strive for, being unique. 8)'

But how do you view yourselves? Do you see yourself as anything or fitting into categories? Guys too! ;D

I'm a girly girl who plays chess, who watches and reads both shôjo* and shonen*, who likes to wear skirts and pants, who likes darker colors and pastels, who has long but unstyled hair, who has some but natural-looking make-up...

I like Naruto (shonen) and Princess Tutu (shôjo), Inuyasha (shonen) and Ouran High School Host Club (shôjo) :P

So yeah I'm hard to figure out, but in general people tend to think I'm a girly girl cause I'm more feminine in personality and manners, even if my likes and way of thinking is more androgynous. I'm also more likely to agree to wear very frilly clothes (like lolita fashion is) when some would balk at the idea.

*Shôjo is anime/manga 'aimed at girls'
*Shonen is anime/manga 'aimed at boys'
(both for 10-18 age group primarily)

You don't have to fit into anyone's box Angel, you are in a class of your own.  But people in general insist on trying to fit someone in a category.  Humans....... they're a complicated lot. lol

Me.... at this stage I am androgynous.  I'm certainly not butch, but not girly girl either.  I dress feminine but no skirts, dresses or heels.  I wear little or no make-up, but like abit of jewellery.  I like perfume. I have shoulder length hair which I have in a ponytail or kept up with clips.   :)  That's me.   :o

When I was young I fit into the Punk/Skateboard community, somehow after the 80s and becomming an adult, I managed to transform into an "elitist snob" according to some of my friends. Not sure if I view myself as that since I am just being me and don't care really about labels people place on me. Through my whole life I have never had the issue of male/female other then people stopping me before I went in the woman's restroom.  Guess its a huge compliment that when I am not trying to pass, I still do.  So that part of my life there are no labels attached as long as I don't talk. Can't wait for T!!

What is you? Well I am an elder who thinks she's still a punk rocker but hey if I want people to see me as who I am I just dress the part and I don't got any problems being identified as to who I am, it don't have to be girly girl or butchy type just a half way between does fine.
