Hello, my name is Stephen!
I discovered your site when I stumbled upon a thread about the "drug" transfemme. I'm not ready, yet, for hormone therapy, but I was curious if such results were possible. Turns out there's no such thing as a free lunch. ^_^
I am a male/man interested in trans issues. I've been seeing a transman (FTM) for a while now, and my experiences with him have lead me to question many values I had held very deeply (including, but not just, topics of sex and gender.)
For years I've felt a desire to reshape my gender, and I've been especially interested in women's cloths. The guy I mentioned earlier lives in a large house with about 25 housemates and they have a free-box for clothing people don't want anymore and two days ago he and I went through it. Most of the stuff was unwearable, but I found a very simple silk nightie that captivated my attention. I took it and went home and tried it on.
It's amazing how something as simple as a piece of clothing can bring into stark relief the things that are missing; I realized this morning that what I really want are boobs. To a certain degree, a smaller waist would be great, but mostly, I want boobs.
So I'm here to find out what my options are, what transwomen have done with their gender identity issues and about their stories of rediscovering themselves. I'm here to find out if it's a bad idea to self-medicate, and to find support when I finally muster the courage to wear a skirt out to a restaurant for the first time. I don't think I'm a woman, but I'd like to find out if I really am a gender queer, or if this is just a passing (haha, get it?) thing.
Thank you all so much for being here. Just from reading the other threads I can tell this is a very loving community.

Hi Stephen,
Welcome to Susan's Place.
Yes. Self medicating is a bad idea and is discouraged. Therapy is recommended, but definitely a doctor should be involved with medication. It's a good thing to find who you are, but you don't want to mess it up because of a preventable mistake.
I'm sure you will find people who can help you in realizing whether you want to wear that skirt out or not. There's nothing wrong with any form of gender expression. It's a matter of finding what's right for you.
There are many possibilities for you and the best way to work them out is to read, and try things out, and find people close to you if possible with whom you can share.
