Title: Hysterectomy question
Post by: DanielDaniel on February 10, 2008, 12:20:45 AM
I want to know what are the experiences of people who've gotten hysterectomy.
Myself, I'm androgynous, not transsexual--but I plan to get rid of that "equipment"
that seems like the strange mistake of nature (and is also causing me health problems).
I wonder how does the surgery affect general physical health--is it hard to recover from?
Since I love to dance,  is it going to affect physical fitness/ability to
exercise intensely on a long-term basis?
Is there going to be a long-term discomfort afterwards or sensation that something is "wrong"
inside? I had a couple of unrelated surgeries before, and while they were minor,
it took long time to feel healthy/strong again. I'd really appreciate if anyone share experience on that.

If you're removing it because it's causing you health problems, that's fine - but if it's for gender identity reasons, I'm not sure why you'd remove something you can't see or feel - could you go into more detail? ???

Aside from health problems: why should I have something so totally alien to me inside? It grosses me out.
I feel disgust towards my body having female stuff inside me.

But well,  health problems play the major part here, yes. I am allergic to contraceptive pills
and have really bad periods: so nothing to correct it, no treatment; this is really the best option. It always causes me discomfort, every day. It is inside, yes, and it's the worst, to feel that it's inside.

Also, considering what I plan to do with altering testosterone status, it's the safest option in terms
of cancer prevention: endometrial cancer is at high risk when you mess with testosterone considering my
naturally very screwed up hormones. They offer endometrial ablation procedure, but I don't think
it's really safe. Of course, if not health problems I wouldn't be seriously considering it.

Ouch. I feel for you. I used to get really horrible cramps before I started T. Yeah, it's best to have that stuff out if you're on T long-term.
