Title: SOS - for a friend in Michigan

Hi Everyone:
This morning I was informed of a horrible turn of events. I am a member of another group and one of the members has been telling us about abuses her spouse has been receiving at the hands of her co-workers and employer. Just horrendous stuff. Well this morning the spouse was laid-off, to the cheers and high fives of the co-workers.
Now I have let them know about Susan's and how everyone has some great contacts. But I am thinking at this point they may be too devastated to get this far. So am I wondering if anyone out there has any contacts in Michigan (lawyers, support groups, etc.)
This has really shaken me up and I am finding it difficult to concentrate at work. I just want to find a lawyer to sue their effing asses off (both the employer and the employees personally). I want to hit them with a hammer so big ....... I understand that will be their choice, but I just can't sit here and do nothing......
Any suggestions......
Thanks
Gill

labor lawyer. look in the phone book. call your state's bar association. they'll give you a list of lawyers specializing in what you need.

getting a lawyer is serious stuff. You need money, most important you need something to back up on the sue case pointing to the company on what they are doing is wrong. A record or something. A lawyer is expensive and a charge without anything to back up on the case is useless.

not necessarly true. many lawyers will either waive or reduce the fee for the intial consultion. In a case like this some lawyers may take on the case without a fee for a percentage of the outcome -- only if you win. Honest lawyers will be able to tell you in the first initial meeting if you've a case or not.
lawyers may sometimes be expensive, but being clueless is priceless.
don't take legal advice from people on forums, including me. see a lawyer.

Thanks:
This will be their decision to go forward with this. They are reviewing their situation this weekend. They say they have documentation etc, that's a good thing.
We just watched the movie North Country last night and the similarities were uncanny. But the decision to go forward will ultimately be theirs.
I was looking for support and links etc, that I could pass on. The group came through with those, thanks. My friend thanks you as well.
