Title: Dilating 'no hands'?
Post by: Hazumu on February 22, 2008, 07:26:23 AM
Is there any way to dilate that, once things are in place, aligned, and proper depth and pressure are achieved, one can free up the other hand?

Before pursuing my own ideas, I want to find out what's already been done, so as not to reinvent the wheel.

Of course! Suporn gives out a vinyl strap about 30 inches long 3 inches wide. Lay it down about the middle of where the butt is to sit. Then when it is all in place wrap it over the butt of the dilator and it sticks to your belly skin and holds the dilator in place.

I saw a dialator that had a bulb on the end so that when it is properly inserted, you can close your thighs and that holds the dilator in place.

They were the same price as other medical dilators and the bulb was removable so you only had to buy one.

I don't know how much this will be of interest but there is a device recommended to GGs past a certain age who need to strengthen internal muscles. Either for urinary incontinence or for damage that occurred during childbirth. I expect that when you are dialating after surgery you have to go through a series of various size dialators. Once that is complete this device might be useful. It stays in place without the use of hands at all. It comes with a series of small springs so you can adjust how much tension you want. And you can join the ranks of GGs who practice their Kegel exercises daily.

LOL... ;D yes a boyfriend will do, Karen! (having sexual intercourse is considered the best form of dilation; I'm sure you already know that! ;))  I can't think of anything really.  It has become such a routine that when I do it, I kind of enjoy it.. >:D  I will ask around though...*giggles*

I just do the hand thing, I don't know if bounding myself with some strap would be very comfortable...might be kinda kinky though!

Geeze the things we talk about :D

I'm kinda bendy so I often just pull one of my feet back between my legs and hold it in place with the back of my ankle.  Also I've inserted the dilator and held it in place with a firm pillow using the back of both my legs.

But I have to agree that a boyfriend would be the preferred alternative :)

"...Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." Sigmund Freud

A majority of the time, dilation's a chore, nothing more.  I'd like to have both hands free to type these replies to topics here on Susans -- one-handed is so stinkin' slow, and prone to errors.

For 'variety', though, some of the apparatuses mentioned could prove a diversion to carrying out my my staff duties... >:D

Karen

P.S., local trial-and-error indicates panties seem to work, but I need to check for unacceptable dimensional changes remaining after a wash-dry cycle... ::)

Well if that happens, maybe you could have some undies just for that purpose.  After all even GG's have "period panties"...

Since I am rapidly approaching this "chore" myself, having a lot of ideas seems like a good thing to me.

Hi, Karen,

Is that what Bill Clinton said to Monica Lewinsky?  I had no idea that he could quote Freud.

Go to a store with a good foundation garments/underthings department and see about elastic panties.  They aren't latex or anything that can't breathe.  Usually they're made of Lycra or something like it.  They provide a bit of compression for the times when you might need it.

I hope that this helps.

This is gonna be weird, but in my personal experience, I tend to just dilate while sleeping.

I just take panties and put a panty-liner on it so that any excess lubricant doesn't get all over the place.

Then once inserted, I'll lie on my side and bend my knees. It's my favorite sleeping position, plus it helps keep things in place.

Oddly enough I'm now starting to dilate again and it's painful again because I haven't done it in over a year. Basically I stopped dilating after being a year and a half post-op because I was with someone for almost a year and we were very sexually active, so I didn't need it; but we broke up a year ago and I was already in the mindset not to dilate until I started feeling tightness a few weeks ago, so I'm starting to dilate again until I can stop dating guys too shy to make a move. >_<

So I'm dilating again, but I usually take a sleeping pill before inserting to knock me out quickly so I don't have to deal with the pain. :-p

D'you know how sometimes you glance at a phrase and your mind extracts a meaning that isn't there?

I just glanced at your sign-out and thought

I now return control of this thread...  >:D

I'm not sure if that's a good and safe ideal to take a sleeping pill for avoiding pain from dilation... could it be dangerous, if any condition happens, such as the lub could get dry... ???

I don't know if I should give a straight answer to this funny thread, but here goes:

Once the thing is in place, I just cross my ankles with my legs pretty straight.  The pressure of my thighs keeps the dilator where it is until I wake up when the timer goes off. ::)

That's what I do...in fact it's what I'm doing right now while I'm typing (with both hands) on my laptop.  I also find the pressure to be quite firm and more steady than if I was using my hands.

I hope you're a long time post-op, because doing that is inadvisable early on, as it can lead to separation around the vaginal orifice.

Yes, 11 years post-op, and never had a problem doing it this way.  But indeed if this does pose a problem for those newly post-op, thank you for pointing this out!
