It probably helps to plant the seed in her mind, then confirming incidents will register with her and eventually she'll get to realize you weren't kidding; perhaps before you tell her for real.

Hey,
It is good that you mentioned it, though the sooner the better on being for real. You seem younger, and if that is the case, I can understand your aprehention. Just remember if it is truly within yourself, if will all come in time.

Though I regret taking a slow 10+ years to do it, the slow build up has worked well for me. Actions do speak louder than words sometimes, and a little joking doesn't hurt either.
By not finding need when you are 40 to shock family and friends by hiding something you have known for years and feeling the waters out little by little, everybody, yourself included, can find normalcy and balance.

Hey Jaded,
Have you given serious consideration to the plan of really moving to another state and going to school, because that is not a bad idea at all. You can change your name before you even go, you don't have to transition first. That will help with a lot of things later.
I really enjoy reading when you write, because you remind me at times of where I came from. I was young in my early 20's and just getting into college at the time. It has almost been half my life time ago! I cannot even begin to tell you what a blessing it has all been. Ups and downs, well that is life, but being secure in myself, that is a blessing.
Peace,
Taylor
