Title: Hi,everyone
Post by: tgirljuliewilson on April 29, 2006, 11:12:03 PM
Hi, everyone!

I'm Julie Wilson, a T-girl, pre-op wanna be from the Fresno area of California.

I have more questions than time to ask them, but I hope to learn from the collective wisdom of all those here.

From as far back as I can remember, at least as far back as age 5, I have wanted to be female.  All my life I have lived with the dream of becoming a woman with a thin, curvy body and a pretty face.  The older I become (44), with a manly body (6', 200#, broad shoulders, large hands and feet, masculine face), the more I become aware of just how difficult this transition is to be.  Not difficult in my effort required, but difficult in the sheer scope of changing this male body for what I have desired all my life.

In my prime, about '91, I was walking down the beach at La Jolla, CA, in a one-piece swimsuit, as confident as any woman there.  Now, I think about hormones vs. black cohosh and soy isoflavones (in quantity).  I think about the post-9/11 world of changing ones legal identity.  I think about living as an obvious male trying to be female.  I think about cosmetic surgery to counter my male-ness.  I wonder how taking hormones will affect my sexuality, especially where men are concerned.  I wonder about....

In sum:  HELP!

Welcome, Julie!

The questions that you've raised are common ones for us transgendered people that have found out only after the testosterone has finished shaping our bodies, what we need to do to truly be ourselves.  I think you've found the right place for help.  The whole site: library, links and, especially, the WIKI will give you many of the answers that you're looking for.

For personal accounts of what others before us have experienced the forums are also great.  I have benefitted greatly by my association with the great people here and I'm sure you will too.  So keep reading, contribute once in a while if you can, asking questions is also a contribution, and allow me to once again say,

WELCOME!

Welcome, Julie.

Some aspects of traansition are easier nowadays, and some (like driver's licenses and Social sECURITY GENDER MARKER CHANGES) are harder.  At least you live in CA, the most progrssive, government friendly state.

Please ask questions and do look at the Wiki.  I had my SRS 6 years ago on my 63rd birthday, still have a Secret clearance, married, and helped my FTM husband clear the spousal benefits wicket with Social Security.

One hint:  keep an audit trail of identity documents and legal/surgical changes along the way.  Chances are, you'll need them.  Stealth may be nice, but none of your old government records or entries ever truly disappear.

Looking forward to chATTING.

Wish I could type.

Thank you all so very much!

This wonderful site has so much information it'll take me a month to read it all.  I've seen many sites over the past few years, but am SO glad I found this one.

Y'all are wonderful!
