Title: Moving to Canada??
Post by: Audrey on March 19, 2008, 01:50:12 AM

Lately I have been getting fed up with the same old, same old. I have been thinking of moving to canada where my SRS will be paid for, the dollar doesn't plummet like a rock, and where I can go to school to be a nurse and maybe the govt will help out. Any suggestions on a neat city/province to move to. Or on the other hand should I stick it out here in MT for a few years and finish school. I guess the difference of the non resident tuition compared to my instate tuition here would cover SRS anyway. Well I guess i just rationalized my self out of my original question. ::)

Hi Audry you bet I have some suggestions. How about Vancouver BC and you get the surgery covered by the province here. I think this is about the last province still left that covered SRS. Hey come on up and visit if you wish. Oh yes one more little piece of information. It's mild all winter here, There are different species of plants here that keep their green leaves all winter.

Hi Audrey I am not certain, I need to find out what they are yet. But it's neat to see green living plants through out the winter months. Ok do some research and just let me know what your thoughts are. I have found that most of the Trans folks here that go to the support group meetings are in college or university, They are neat, just like the younger folks here on this board.

well I surfed around and found out that basically tuition would be wayyyy out of my price range. Also to become a resident I would have to live there for 4 years. Way too long at the moment. So I'll probably go to school here and then move. Ugh three years of montucky. I suppose I'll survive for a while. However a summer trip may be in order. YAY.

You are welcome if you do decide to come up for the summer. Drive up with the green bug, "hee, hee." that was some peace of work though. ;D

I can't blame you for wanting to head up there, I have been contemplating it myself for similar reasons. Unfortunately it means I would be giving up a job I like. I'd go in a hurry if I knew I could keep doing what I am doing.
That summer trip will probably calm those feelings, I should do the same.

basically by the time I officially became a resident and could go to school and get srs I would have been able to finish school here and probably pay for SRS out of pocket, although I may still try to hassle my insurance company into paying for it.

Hi Audrey I have heard Wing Walker mention that some health insurance companies in the US do cover SRS but I think it was only some company insurances Wing Walker said that pay for it. I'll pray for you, and you know where to find me if you should run into any problems.
