Transgender adults seek congressional support in workplace
Jim Brown - OneNewsNow - 3/26/2008 12:30:00 PM
Transgender activists will descend on Capitol Hill next month to lobby members of Congress to include "gender identity and expression" in the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.

The Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which bans workplace discrimination based on "sexual orientation," passed the House last November, but the homosexual employment bill still awaits a vote in the Senate. In preparation for the lobbying effort, the National Center for Transgender Equality will be holding "lobby training" and policy briefings on April 14 in Washington. The following day, transgender activists and their supporters plan to meet with members of Congress and urge them to back special workplace protections for transgender adults. They will also hold a rally in front of the U.S. Capitol.

I don't see Congress helping much of anyone these days, why should we be an exception?

Because, when all the others fail to apathy, those who are active will win. That's how it always works! ;)

Seems to me plenty of people have been pretty active in the past 7 years, but only corporations get the laws passed.

Quote from: Cindi Jones on March 26, 2008, 04:34:32 PMI thought Tekla was saying that congress does nothing for anybody (average people) anymore. I agree with that. If you're not incorporated, you don't exist. and it's not funny.Quote from: tekla on March 26, 2008, 03:46:17 PM

We should incorporate as a group and find someone with tons of money to buy us some laws.

That's only because we let them get away with it. Yes, there are active people. Yes there are many who have worked very hard. But the citizens are on the whole apathetic idiots who only care who's shagging who.
One day, we'll have a sense of unity to change things. I hope that by the time we finally decide to do this we haven't sold the whole of our country to China.

well, if we do sell the whole country to China, I have a plan to buy it back at a quarter of it's wholesale value.
Then I'll sell it all to Canada. or Western Europe at a hefty profit.
