Ray Jones challenged in Senate race

A Pike man, frustrated with what he feels is a lack of response from his legislator, is working toward running for the office himself, while creating a political party with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) community's interests in mind.
In an interview with the News-Express this week, William Newsome, 33, of Pikeville, announced his candidacy for the 31st District state Senate seat held by Ray S. Jones II, saying he feels it is time for a change.
