Title: Basal metabolism rate and calorie requirements for transsexuals

The site caloriesperhour.com (//http://) has lots of useful information on how many calories a body burns, and things like that. To find out how many calories you are burning by doing nothing more than being alive, you need to know your basal metabolism rate (BMR).
That site will calculate your BMR (http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.php) if you put in your data including weight, height, age-- and sex. It gives widely differing figures depending on if you say you're male or female. For example, I got a BMR of 1,716 kcal by inputting male, but only 1,514 kcal for female, all else being equal.
As a transsexual lady who's been on HRT for two years, I have no idea how my BMR or caloric needs should be rated. The HRT has taken effect slowly on my body: I have breasts grown to about a B cup, and a waist-hip ratio of 8.5. Medical statistics say that for good cardiovascular health a woman's WHR should be <.8, while a man's should be <.95. So regarding physique I'm somewhere in between.
To maintain a healthy weight, we need to know our daily calorie needs (http://www.caloriesperhour.com/tutorial_need.php), and adjust our food and activities accordingly. But again, there are only two settings to calculate this: either "male" or "female."
So how are TS people supposed to calculate and interpret such data? Do our numbers fall in between the male and female ranges so that we should split the difference for at least a rough idea?

I think it will depend mostly on your muscle mass, and endocrinology, I always answer 'female' to those things, as I have the endocrinology and body similar to a female's.
I think what matters more is if you fidget or not, i fidget a lot.
These things are pretty wildly inaccurate anyways.

Muscle mass again screws that up a lot.
I eat about 2600 calories a day to keep an even weight,
which only makes sense if I've got a massive amount of muscles.
Hey, must have them...
IF I exercise heavily, I need about 3500 calories a day.
This means my food budget is HIGH...

I've been keeping to 1600 calories a day, and reducing weight like a charm. I have just taken off thirteen and a half pounds in one month, which is a good rate but still fairly safe. I have no muscles to speak of, never did in the first place.

So anyway what is the answer for us? Does anyone know? Split the difference maybe?
Keira, granted you're superhuman but do you have any knowledge that could help us ordinary T gals?

Haha, superhuman, I'm super T, I can leap vanilla sundays in a single bound...
This formula supposedly is the most precise for all but extremely muscled or fat people.
BMR is 70% of total calorie expended for average people.
Men: BMR = 66 + (13.7 X wt in kg) + (5 X ht in cm) - (6.8 X age in years)
Women: BMR = 655 + (9.6 X wt in kg) + (1.8 X ht in cm) - (4.7 X age in years)
In my case, with the male one
66 + (13.7 * 160 / 2.2 ) + (5 * 182 ) - (6.8 * 40 )
1062 + 905 - 272 = 1689
Total Calories per day = 2196
Women,
665 + 698 + 328 - 188 = 1515
Total Calories per day = 1968
But, I'm obvious one of those muscular ones because I KNOW I eat way way way more
than that ;D

The question is: what would be the formula for transsexuals on HRT?

I reckon the best way to find out what is right for you and your lifestyle is simply to take a starting point, and see if you gain or lose weight and adjust accordingly.
