Hi all,
Well exactly a year into my transition and a visit to my parents whom I had not seen since a year ago. Turned up at their home, "you don't look like our son," was what I had. After a few days of hiding things I plucked up courage to tell then of my gender dysphoria and what it was and that I planned to have a sex change all in the space of about 30 minutes. I was shaking convinced I would be disowned, but no. They asked questions and said that's life, that's what my dad said. My mum said, "I suppose I have a daughter now?" I said yep, the daughter you always wanted, how ironic. I still can't believe it, they also said if ever I needed to live their again there was always room. I had put this off for so long, I really respect my parents and I know they must really love me for who I am. I am so excited as all my close relationships now know.
Posted a recent pic too, no Madonna but hey maybe one day, lol.
hugs

Congratulations. I think telling family has to be the hardest part.
And for the record, I think you look lovely.

Thanks Karen Lyn and ell,
I have only just come home yesterday and still can't believe it. I am so thankful as i know a few trans people who have had negative responses from family. O' and thanks Karen for your comment on the new pic. That gave me a boost too. I'll come down to reality soon as life does kind of do that to you, lol.

That's great hon. I'm so pleased it worked out for you.
My mum was cool about it too but I haven't changed that much so it's not such a big deal to her.
But some familes reject their children and I know one or two friends like that who's family and parents rejected them and it's awful.
