Susan's Place Transgender Resources

Hello all,

Just thought that it would be best for me to introduce myself here.
I'm DJorgensen, a 23 year old IT professional / artist from Canada. I'm on some other trans oriented boards, though never looked into the forum here until I was referred by a link from another friend here. I live on my own with my girlfriend of three years now and am always working towards a better future for the both of us :)

With regards to being trans, I am a MtF androgyne who would be positioned at a 5 on the Kinsey scale as a woman (ie mostly gay). I live nearly full time as female and am openly trans, and as well I am on a very long waiting list to be approved for anything significant medically.

That's about all for the introduction I suppose - I don't take offense very easily and as such if anyone wants to know more, feel free to ask me!

I'm from Alberta. It seems that my location is both a blessing and a curse. Blessing in that SRS is covered under medicare, but curse in that I have to wait for many many months to get to that. As such I am only on T blockers currently and last I was able to hear I am on a massive waiting list to see the only approved psych in the province such that I can start HRT and work towards SRS. I am quite nearly complete socially transitioning, and live nearly full time as I desire.

I am an artist, though its not where I make my money, nor do I find as much time for it anymore - its moreso a hobby these days.

As for MtF androgyne, I would simply say that I am a boyish girl (Annie Lennox ish?). I was born a girlish boy, yet living as male is just not living at all for me and has nearly led me to end my life on a number of occasions. I am entirely grateful to have been given an androgynous body to work with, and have few issues with it other than the few things I am missing and the things I instead have.

Like the appearance of neither or both of the genders, hon then I would say you are really lucky that way, you will transition to female much easier. As for the are I will see if I can find the thread where we have been exchanging drawings. Do you like animes and any other type of cartoon animations? I love them, and especially fairies.

Well I do have a number of boyish mannerisms too, and I tend to take the role of the boy in a relationship, so its a tad bit more complex that what can really be put into words on paper...

I do (or at least used to) watch and draw anime/manga. I was really involved with the anime community a few years ago, and would often sell my art at conventions and such. Not nearly as much these days - I still stick to watching the old stuff and tend to draw more realistic work and focus more on photography too. Faeries are cool, though I've always been more fond of the dragons and elves type of thing ^^;

And yes the waiting is horrid here. I am not on HRT as of yet, though I am on T blockers. I had thought HRT should have started by now but apparently I have to wait to be seen by the one approved psych that I was referred to by the GP that I got referred to, so that the psych can refer me to an endo so that I can finally start that. I am more than a bit concerned by the wait. Earlier when I had mentioned about living nearly full time, the GP didn't care for that since its not absolute full time... which is rather disappointing in my opinion (and from my perspective of not having much concern on the pronouns others use for me).

Hi  DJorgensen hon, have you considered moving to Vancouver, you can get processed here in one year living full time.

Anyway I have lots of angels and fairies a few elves but only one dragon  >:( stored in my hard drive. I have a pet imaginary dragon and of course Gertrude is the only one who can climb on it's back and allow others to join her for a dragon ride. Gertrude is my imaginary friend, ya just like my little critter who lives under a rock. You can't see my little critter until after dark and she is awake then you can see her two little eyes blinking in the darkness. Sometimes she sleeps between us she likes to wrap her tail around Wing Walker, and thank goodness Wing Walker hasn't rolled over my little critter yet.

Oh ya, I have a pet alien as well.

My job and my life are here right now. In a few years Vancouver will be much more of a prospect for me (I'm probably getting a few big time IT certifications here in the next year, which will really anchor a salary expectation for myself for the future). Until then, well free SRS is still a lingering positive about waiting out the process here.

Hi DJorgensen, I will pray that all will work out for you. Stay in touch hon, I am usually not far from the computer. If you have a good job and you foresee a future career with of course stay where you are. You can get the same gender reassignment support in Calgary to, just takes longer

I am never far from computers - I just cannot escape them (and I am online for probably 18 hours a day usually)....
I am actually in Edmonton though, and not very far away from the gender clinic for the province. Things are indeed well for me here, I have all my close friends and my family, and have a very amazing job and co-workers.

By all means stay where you are I believe that you are in much more secure position there for certain. Well actually I have lived in so many places that I am beginning to forget which one was the last place, well since I began working as a social worker twenty years ago, I moved to three different places. Midland was so far the one I truly felt comfortable in even if every one knew who I was, they treated me good. I got married to Wing Walker in that same little place, but since Wing Walker and I both I retired  two years ago we decided to move here to Vancouver BC. Much nicer climate. We have even began tossing the idea around about moving to Australia. Can you imagine me riding a Kangaroo, Tammy Kangaroo down mate. ;D

Hi Kikly, I was kiddin, I know nobody rides Kangaroos for real, even if I do live half a world away. Australia is an interesting country that I would like to go visit, even maybe stay. Some of the stuff you see there would certainly be interesting to the imagination to be sure.
