Just curious,
Anyone seen this?  Is it any good or just shock exploitation?

Think I have been listening to too much Henry Rollins lately.  It does my head in that this, or any other kind of hate crime can happen - ever.  What is that all about?  H.R. talks about the racist killing of James Byrd Jnr in Texas.  The point he makes is that when something like that happens everything must stop until we figure out why and what the f**k is going on.  Whenever I hear about hate crime involving T people I feel this even more keenly myself.  Why does it happen?  I don't buy into the arguement that people do things like this because they are scared.  In May this year I visited Auschwitz to see it for myself.  None of it made any sense, the systematic brutality for brutality's own sake, the scale and pointlessness of it.  That was 65 years ago and yet STILL those perceived as 'others' are put to death for no reason other than being themselves. H.R is right, When something like this happens we have to say STOP, enough is enough.  We've just had a TS person on the reality show 'Big Brother' over in Blightey and all the little weasels in the tabloids trotted out the usual crap.  The most irritating being the use of the phrase 'Geezer-bird' in reference to her. Mainstream newspapers used that phrase.  It's demeaning and dehumanizing and one step down the road of hatred.  I believe hate starts small, like a virus, and if you don't stop it before too long you have a case of pneumonia.  The thing is I don't know how to stop it when it is small.  Jeez I'm having a reflective evening.

Do let me know if this movie is any good.  I like the look of the trailer.
Peace and Love to all of you.

It's the dehumanizing that allows normally moral people to perpetrate things like the Holocoust and other hate crimes.  All you have to do is convince someone that the object of their hate is less than human and it becomes a small step to torture and murder.  >:(

I hope the Gwen Arujo movie does the subject the true justice it deserves.  Too much TV dwells on the sensational in order to get the ratings and $$$ they are really after.   :P

I suppose we'll see.

the pre release reviews are mixed
it is not Gwen's story but Gwen's story from her mother's (Sylvia Guerrero) point of view.
