Hi everybody,
I like the way you show support for each other.
I was born female minded but male bodied. MTF.
It's June now and I finally came out to myself feb of 2006 that I identify as female. I'm 43. My girlfriend doesn't mind as long as I don't start crossdressing or start growing breasts. These rules are a drag for me, but I'm not ready to do that yet anyway. I'm hoping as I travel along in my self discovery, that she will travel along with me.
I am getting to know myself better right now. In the future, I'm hoping to get a better grasp of where I want to go with this and how.
Anyway, I'm glad I discovered this forum. I'm sure I'll learn something from each of you and I hope that someone can learn something from me.

****Hi, I've been around since june 2006. I just want to make a note that I no longer call myself Rebecca. I call myself Rebis. I've determined that I am an androgyne and not a TS. :)

I just wanted to welcome you too Susan's too.
I'm also in the process of finding out who I am and what I need to do about it.
At first I though I was a Cross Dresser but now I thik that I'm a Transsexual.
I have a wife who doesn't want to see me dressed as a woman the person that I am.
Anyway good to meet you Rebecca.

Welcome Rebecca. If you are truly MTF, then you will at the very least start living as a woman fulltime and if your GID is more severe, you will start altering your body with hormones/surgery. If your girlfriend can't deal with that, then she just may not be right for you. Also, people do tend to change somewhat over time.

Welcome, Becky.
Being gender-variant isn't a picnic. At some point, hard choices must be made. You'll hear about some of those choices and their results - both good and hurtful - as you wander the beautiful grounds of Susan's Place.
If and when you reach that point, it will be time to find a gender-experienced counselor to help you determine who you are.

Hello Rebecca,
Welcome to Susans. I am also 43. I do hope your girlfriend is understanding of your needs and does not try to set up too many limitations on you. When you are faced with these severe limitations from an unaccepting partner, the relationship rarely ever works out I am sorry to say. This has been my experience. I hope for your sake she has an open mind, is very understanding of your needs and will grow to be more accepting in the future. I will be looking forward to reading more posts from you. Again Welcome!
Hugs,
Shannon

Hi Shannon,
I can't believe how incredible this site is. I feel really comfortable here. Not only do I feel safe, but the range of ideas and feelings in the posts reflect ideals and opinions I never thought I'd be able to share.
I was talking to my girlfriend earlier today and she explained to me that she is becoming comfortable with the discovery of my femininity. She said it will just take time for her to accept or reject the stages I may go through. I know she doesn't judge me. It's not her nature. She is older than I am and has never really been exposed to such concepts as gender issues. I know she is working on her new understanding of who I am. I'm sure we will always be close in one way or another whatever the future holds.
The issue, I guess, is how fast will I grow/change, and, can she keep up with me?
I hope I don't sound delusional here. It's just that we are expecting to go through some difficult times together, but today it feels good.
Becky

Hi Rebecca, Welcom to susans. I am also discovering my female self have been for close to 30 years now. I always though myself more female than male although I did go through a large part of my life as male doing maleness things but now that I am older I think I have matured quite a bit. I am 47. I do not have to many female clothes yet just panties and bra's. I have a pair of womens jeans and they do look good on me.
The wonderful ladies and gents here are very caring and understanding. They and this site have helped me greatly. There is a lot of information to be had so dig in and do ask questions. We are her for you.
Look forward to seeing more posts.
Owen
love being female

Hi Rebecca,
Glad to have you at the message boards. We welcome everyone from all stages and walks of life. We share things back, always remember a therapist is more the final word with advice on any major life decision.
I have had a past one that said that also, about breasts and crossdressing. We arent together now though, for other reasons mainly.
I have developed further and deeper than that period and am not sure if I couldnt have guessed how far I would go compared to what I really want in my heart. I think I would have said more limits that what I would really follow back then.
Its all going to come down to what do you want, and what does she like/want/accept. Hard to really tell.

Having known/supported several couples in transition, let me repeat the famous Ingersoll Gender Center mantra: RUSH SLOWLY
One key to transitioning in a relationship you want to last is to always give your SO time to adjst and to assimilate your latest change.
Once you're on hormones, you're going through puberty again and want everythiing right now. Meanwhile her (his) head is spinning and might be too off balance to take the pierced ears, the court ordered name change, the surgery date ... whatever. She is going through the five stages of grieving; so give her a chance to stay with you.

Hi Rebecca and welcome. I hope we all can help you and your SO with the insight and experience a lot of people here have. I am 3 months 'out' to me and my wife though I think I felt it for a far lot longer. As others are saying, proceed stage by stage slowly for what is nature to you takes a lot of adjusting for your SO. Best of luck to you two. :)

" I was born female minded but male bodied. MTF." I like that.
I date human beings not girls or boys. Is easier for me to have a long lasting relationship with women. Women have one quality in general, a broad brush stroke I know, is that they put a lot of rules on their mates...rules that they do not follow...am 51 and dated my share plus
You are here in this forum not by accident, there are no coincidences, my belief.
You are in the right place, thoughand among friends. Stay

Hi Rebis,
Welcome to Susan's , this is an awesome place, so supportive, helpful. I am 43 also and fairly new here. I am just discovering that I am a female in a male body. I don't have a girlfriend to worry about, but I do have a 14yr old son who I am not sure he could take his dad telling him that he is a female. The one thing that I am starting to learn is be true to yourself. I sincerely hope your girlfriend will come along this juorney with you. It is so nice to have someone close to you to support you through the many descisions we make along this path. I agree also that you should find a therapist to help you sort all of this out. I have a wonderful one and I don't know what I would do with out her. Please take care and I lokk forward to seeing more posts from you and possibly see you in the chat room.
Hugs,
Alena :)

Hello Everybody!
I changed my name from Rebecca to Rebis because I have determined I'm an androgyne.
I'm not certain I identify as either gender even though I believe that what feelings I have are female.
I have been on Susan's since June of 2006. I am locking this topic because by editing it, I brought it up in the list and I feel like I'm deceiving the nice people who continue to welcome me to the site.
Remember, I love everybody! Don't you ever forget that. :) :) :)
