The best binding I have used so far is the compression items from Underworks.  I was using a double compression vest but eventually outgrew it (bad food choices).  I bought a large triple compression and to be honest, I can't get into it because it is super compression (any ideas from others PLEASE post them, I don't want to return it!!).   I may have to resort back to the double compression or just buy one with a zipper or velcro or something I can put on not melt into.  I guess if my arms were attached with velcro I would not have a problem.

They compress very well and if you get the right size you can still breathe.  I just have not managed to find the right combo as of late due to my gaining weight.  I frequent a few boards for FtMs and so far underworks has the best reputation for service and products no matter what size you are. 

Yeah, commercially, underworks binders. Someone made a binder for me that was the most comfortable binder I had, way more comfortable than underworks. But it was homemade and specced to my measurements.

I also tried abdominal binders and ace bandages. Underworks beat them all. Just remember that UW measures small, so if you're on the borderline, go with the larger size.

whatever you do, i strongly advise against binding with ace bandages. i did that for several years in highschool b/c i couldn't afford a binder and i didn't actually even know that they existed.

ace bandages restrict your breathing and can really damage tissue, not to mention really mess up your back!!!

tape is also a very bad idea (although it seems like another very inexpensive method). it can tear off skin on removal and irritate it (some more than others) during use.

personally i am fairly pleased with the products from underworks, but have heard great things about a binder from mango used by (and made specifically for) larger men.

This vest is recommended for large-chested guys, featuring double layers of lycra in the front for maximum support, and comfortable stretch material in the back. It pulls on easily over the head, wraps around the torso and fastens firmly with velcro on the left side.

I hear binders roll  up on you if you are overweight in the least bit, is there a way to stop that roll  up issue?

I did the tape thing,in my teen years ..but with with duct tape..It was nice and flat..but after wearing it all day at school when I got home it was driving me bonkers.I had to get it off..never again..I was raw for a week.My skin was so inflamed it was torture. I got  some relief by using sunburn gel.
anyways I wonder how many transpeople did this tape thing  in the 80's when info was scarce when they were young desperate and ignorant..too

Why don't you wrap something around you breasts, and then use duct tape?  Then it won't irritate the skin.

Yes, you can fold it up, or buy short ones. Or, you can stitch cloth to it, make it extra long and tuck it in your pants.

I am not sure if it was Mango or Underworks that advertised a binder specifically good for larger men. It had good reviews on a FtM forum Tino & I found. (Pretty sure it was third one down on Underworks site).

To add to this thread, I have to ask others if anybody else has the triple compression binder?  If so, how the hell do you get into the thing?  I have the size I need but there is NO give!!  I don't want to send ti back, just wear it... but I can't figure out how I can do it by myself.  Is there a way to loosen the fabric a bit to allow some give?

I am open to all suggestions because this has become a sore spot with me going back and forth to the post office.



On same note, if anybody needs 1-3 Underworks medium size double compressions (only 1 has been worn at all and very little) please gimme a hollar.  I have too many floating around I can't wear due to eatting too much junk food recently.

hehe, that is entirely an option with that vest!!

I did however take my medium double compression back out of the drawer and put it on.  Other then it trying to roll up I can stil wear it!!  YAY!!!   Guess it was just a bad time in my life when I could not wear it for a month or so.  I think I am going to send the triple compression back for a refund because  there is no way I can get into it.  I also ordered a few frog bras to help out with days i need less coverage of skin but still have compression.

What is a frog bra? I heard that some guys cut around the neck line & under the arm pits and sew it (to prevent fraying?). I am not sure exactly what this means or if it will help but i thoought I would pass it on.

I did a google search and it looked to be the same as a sports bra.

It basically is a sports bra but with 32% lycra (I think it is).  Basically it has 2% more compression then the vest I have from Underworks but is something I can wear daily without worry about me forgetting about a medical appointment or some kind of screening I need for the job.   Plus, if it eliminates the rolll up effect of the vest from my waist/hip area to my mid stomach section it was worth it.

I have never used one personally, but have for years read of them and the vest from underworks being the best compression pieces out there.  They are made by Title 9 sports and come in 3 colors.  I should be getting them soon so I can give you a more personal comparrison how how they feel and compress compared to the vest.

Hi all,

I was out on the beach today...and this topic came across my mind, I just wanted to pass this along...after you do have surgery for those that do... make sure to follow the surgeons directions for not exposing the scars to the sun for the first year or two. It will sure pay off in the long run!

I cant really offer anything in regard to the bonding thing, because I personally never had to go through it but it makes my heart go out to all of you going through this, it just seems so injust. But you all are so on your way and that is just awsome!

Heck, even I understand.  Underground Panther did an excellent job describing how awful it is.  I hate my facial hair because it is one of the more obvious things that give me away.  I know it's not the same thing, but my point is that I understand.

Thanks Taylor for that. It's darn tempting to go shirtless outside at the moment, but I've been trying to restrain myself, cause it's just under a year.

I went out yesterday because my mum knocked on the door and I was just in shorts. I said to her "well now you get to see what the scars look like".

She said "I see no scars. I see a great big hairy gut. You need to lose weight." LOL, love mothers for honesty, eh?
