Title: New girl.
Post by: Sephirah on June 12, 2008, 11:08:48 PM
Um... hello everybody. :)

Being quite shy by nature, it was a real blessing when I found this site. After reading through some threads, I just knew I wanted to join.

It's really nice to find somewhere I can be myself. Where I live, the Stone Age would be a massive evolutionary step, at least in terms of attitudes. Being a transgendered girl is bad enough *looks around furtively for the flickering torches and screaming mob* but being a gay transgendered girl... I might as well get out the marker pens and start working on my triple sixes. :-\

So what can I say about myself? About six months ago I met a girl who accepted me for who I was, and my life changed irrevocably. We've been dating ever since, and it's mainly through her support that I was able to take the first steps towards becoming the woman I should have always been.

It was actually her mother who suggested that I should join a support network (I was so nervous the day my girlfriend told her mother about me that I think I went through a month's underwear supply in about three hours :embarrassed:).

I'm taking everything one step at a time, and know that one day I'll be able to look in the mirror and be happy with my reflection. Until that day... I figure the journey will be nothing if not interesting. :)

I like writing; it affords me an outlet for everything I feel inside but can't express verbally. I'm a bit of a gamer chick ;D and I generally enjoy lurkiing around online, where what you say doesn't automatically come with a predjudice once people see the person saying it.

So, um, yeah... sorry for rambling. I tend to do that somewhat when I'm nervous.

I look forward to meeting you, and would like to thank you wholeheartedly for providing such a wonderful service for girls like myself. :-*

Thank you very much. I can't tell you how much happier I feel even after being here only a short while. :)

Lady Amarant, thank you for the directions. :) I don't drink (although heaven knows I've thought about it a time or two), but a tall glass of ice water wouldn't go amiss. ;D *toasts your good health*

Alice, thank you, too. I'm starting to think that it's just one more hurdle to vault on the way to being yourself. :) Ladies like yourselves certainly make it so much easier. *hugs*

Nichole, I could say the same. :) I've been reading a lot here and your erudition and articulation are really wonderful. I look forward to reading a lot more. Thank you. *big smile*

Hi, Eloise. :)

Nervous doesn't even begin to describe it. The bathroom and I became very closely acquainted that day, I can tell you. I should have taken a tent and siege rations, lol, not that I could have eaten them. ;) Halleilujah for enlightened moms, huh? ;D

Growing up with two brothers, writing was pretty much the only thing I did. Either that or reading. I tended to seclude myself because had absolutely no interest in doing anything 'boyish' that my brothers jumped at (in fact, truth be told, they irritated me no end). Having no sister to filch toys from, I had to find other things to do.

And when I write, my characters can achieve things I can only dream of. :)

It's really nice to meet you. :) *hugs*

Hi, Amanda. :)

It's actually a really strange thing about my name. It came from a dream... the most vivid one I've ever had. It was on the door to my office in a place where I work at some point in the future, I guess.

I remember in the dream that I was myself, in every way, and my name felt so natural and right that I just knew it was the one I would use. It was spelled slightly differently though, with a 'gh' in the middle. But, my girlfriend and I decided on this shortened version because it sounded better (to me, anyways)... and is something we've done together. :) She calls me Leilei. ;D

Thank you *blushes*.

I already love it here. You are all part of a really awesome community.

*hugs*

Um, thank you, everybody. :) I don't know about things going all that well. I've had the Devil's own job getting onto the site for a few days (which is about right for my luck), and I still can't go about it the normal way *crosses fingers that her computer isn't suddenly infected with something nasty* :-\. But... I really love it here, and where there's a will there's a way. :)

Quote from: Sephirah on June 12, 2008, 11:08:48 PMUm... hello everybody. :)
Lauren,

Reading your words, past and present, is like watching a flame that never goes out, no matter how fiercely the wind howls.

You don't just fight. You shine.

You may not seek the spotlight, but let me say it clearly, you are the light.

Your presence radiates warmth, strength, and hope.

It's in every brave breath you've taken, every time you chose laughter, and in every moment you lifted someone else while walking through fire.

We love you, Lauren. 💗

And by the way... welcome to Susan's, New girl!.  ;D

Omg, I can't believe you did that, Lilis. Feels like a lifetime ago now. Someone so full of dreams. It's hard to see the same person.

Thank you. You kind of made me cry for the second time. :'( In a good way.

*blushes*

Thank you.

I know I brought it on myself but I am kind of a quivering mess right now. Thank you, Sarah. :'(

To quote the second Matrix movie... "Some things never change. But some things do."

I have been blessed to be a part of the lives of some truly amazing people in my time here. And I don't think I would change anything about my life, even if I could.

Okay I need to blow my nose. This is all bringing up a lot of stuff. Damn you, emotions!

Noooo. Kim, I've known you for ages. You're my down-to-earth English sister. ;D You've been around this place a long time.

Haha this is so weird and twilight zone. I am smiling and crying at the same time. It's like 10 different feelings all at once.

It's weird. I didn't expect anyone to do this. Thank you. You made an ol' warhorse very happy. In the way only people here can. Can't seem to stop crying, though. Thank you. Sincerely.

Tink and Chris always kind of intimidated me. They were like the Oberon and Titania of Susan's when I joined. It was a very different time. About 3 months after I joined, the FA of the day, Dennis, asked me if I wanted to be a mod.

https://www.susans.org/index.php/topic,43476

The rest is history. Did a lot of that for a long time. So I know what the staff have to cope with. Retired in about 2019, the time the site defaulted to when it all went down. Lotta mixed feelings. One thing I always know, though.. amazing people never stop being amazing.
