- I set squirrel to work learning Spanish and he did a very good job. I could order a hot dog any where in

So which is it? A he or a she? I love this squirrel character.

Squirrel was always a she. But she did not reveal herself as a she until later in life. I didn't know squirrel had a gender. As I got older, I used pronouns for squirrel which were incorrect. Since I'm posting these chronicles out of order, I can see how it gets confusing ;)
And squirrel was always me. I didn't understand it when I was little. I really thought that squirrel would talk to me. And I always knew the Rusty would take me and expose me. Crazy kid. ;)
Melissa, I appreciate this. This is very helpful for me.

Hi Cindi:
So, in other words, your experience with Squirrel is a mirror of your own life, isn't it? Squirrel was always you, and you represented society (or...maybe...all the Andreas in the world) in Squirrel's life. As you became more comfortable with your true self, you also began to use the right pronouns toward Squirrel as a reaffirmation of your self-acceptance. Sorry, I got carried away.... I just loved this story and was trying to understand it better.
