At least five requited (Kacy, Rusty, Annie, Pat, and Carol) and a bunch of other that if not love, were very heavy lust. Kind of hard for me to separate that sometimes.

Being somewhat arbitrary about how much love constitutes "in love," I will say ten times. I set the bar pretty high, so I could count more people. If I set it as high as it goes then the answer is two, one of whom I am in relationship with now. The other is dead.

Once and I was probably the only one in love in that relationship. That was 11 years ago.

Pretty simple, really. If my sanity's still intact, I haven't fallen in love. Course, that's the prerequisite, it changes over time the longer you're with that person into a deep love where some sanity is eventually restored.
And I've only ever won the heart of one I loved. Many hearts I didn't love though.

Nero, I want you to know that last night something happened to me that other widowed people have experienced, too. For the first time in some years, Meredith came to me in my dreams. For perhaps the first time, she did not look dead. She looked older, like she had been gone for many years, but she appeared healthy and as attractive as I remember her. Most importantly, she was happy, very happy. We stood there looking at each other, and then I sensed that she knew. She knew about Ellie and was very pleased.
Many widowed people have talked about similar dreams where their dead loved one has come to them and given them their blessing for their new relationship. And now my Dearheart has done that for me, and I cannot stop myself from crying when I think about it. Someday maybe you can have this happiness, too.

But I've had a lot of crushes and fantasies.

Four times, and I'm probably being a bit nostalgic because it's my birthday, but I wouldn't give up any of the 3 that didn't work out, because they got me to this point. James, Melissa, Travis, and Aria--- and I never let Aria go. This is my second birthday with my beautiful wife, and I couldn't be happier.
