very VERY important. He has to be baby face, clean-cut, athletic or thin nice sweet smile:))
However he must be handsome to my standards.not the top model beauty. He must be sweet. angry old fashioned hairy( black and white movie stars) men, are out of the question.
Looking like George would be perfect:)

Mutual chemistry, shared values and goals, and a zest for life are paramount. Makeup and jewelry might scare me off before we got to know each other. After all that, bright eyes to gaze into, and a smile that lights up the room are definite assets.

Don't know. I've never really had a partner.

He/She can't be so ugly they're hard to look at. And they have to have reasonably good hygiene.

That's all I really ask in the looks department. Though my preference is a cute brunette.

I don't know. I think it definitly has something to do with the initial attraction. My feeling is if you are attracted to someone you won't see them as ugly. It must be true because you see all these shovel faced people in good relationships and they manage to breed etc..

I do like the pretty boys, but really, personality and hygiene are more important.  I've noticed that the more I like someone, the better looking they are to me.  If they have a bad personality, they become ugly.  :-\

Agreed with the part about how if someone has a bad personality they look unattractive. It's strange how the correlation between the two happens.

As to answer Nero's question; when I met my current SO I didn't know what they looked like, and when they showed me a picture of themselves before we had gotten to know each other very well, I didn't consider them very attractive, only so-so at that point. Since getting to know this person over the course of four years, I've become very attracted to them.

If, hypothetically, I were looking for someone else, looks would indeed be important but not top priority. They have to be interesting, funny, know when to be serious and when it's ok to goof off, have similar tastes as mine in music, games, movies, etc but still be their own person but willing to share in the things I like even if it doesn't completely appeal to them.

I have found myself attracted to body types ranging from thin to muscular to 'husky' or 'big-boned', short to very tall, all different skin colors and every in-between of anything that exists, but I do have a preference for dark or red haired males and females and they get bonus points if they have green eyes :D.

Not very. As far as boys go, I mostly like boyish boys and rocker types. As for girls, I love butch girls and also feminine girls. I'd love to meet another androgynous person in real life...that would be incredibly sexy.  :P

as long as she doesn't look so fem that I feel dysphoric around her,  looks don't matter I've been attracted to girls of all body types but none have wanted to be more than friends

Personality and a healthy attitude towards life.  Not built like Hulk Hogan, but a bag of bones.  Must have a nice butt.  Facial hair is so so.  no monster beard, maybe a goatee.  Blue eyes are a plus.  Nothing like a man with blue eyes. Yumm..  Personal hygiene are more important.

The older I get the more I realize that if you are seeking a long term relationship then looks really aren't the #1 criteria. The quality of the "inside" person is far more important; this is the person you have to live with day in and day out. Of course there will always be those that only care about the outside wrapper, and these people are to be avoided, since they are shallow.

Besides, a person that is beautiful on the inside shines through on the outside, and people can see that.

Pretty important, I guess. I've never had a partner who wasn't nerdy- or geeky-looking. I like to admire non-nerdy-looking men, but from afar. I would never wind up in a relationship with one.

Except my ex-wife, but then she was a woman. Zorchy, yow! You should have seen the heads turn at Comic-Con the time she wore that electric-blue spandex top!

My only regret is that I didn't feel free to tell anyone, "Hey! See her? She's my wife!!!"

Honestly their looks matter a lot to me. You can call me superficial, but it does matter to me.

If they pass the looks test, then they must have similar interests as me. They must have a quirky personality. ;)

if youre like.... *barfs* then no.  but ive never met anyone like that.  lol

ive been attracted to all sorts of people, but red hair and blue eyes are a favorite.  i also find myself generally more attracted to masculine facial traits such as a larger nose and brow line and people who are taller or the same height as me.

what matters most to me is whats upstairs.  i could never be with someone who doesnt constantly have me on my toes with their wit and humor.  plus i enjoy a good debate every once in a while.

Seconded. And even if everyone's got at least little, that really doesn't justify the rest of it.

Well they're my partner, right, so it's somewhat of a requirement that I want to sleep with them. That's about it. No specifics or whatever, just sexually attractive, to me. :)

This might sound shallow and narcissistic, (which i probably am. :( ) but i would love to have a guy that looked similar to me (height, frame, baby face) but it's true. When I chose my display icon, I was like drooling. I love feminine boys like that, So yeah i guess looks are pretty important. *Pets DI*

As far as looks goes, the only real requirement is hygiene.

After that, my tastes in males differs from my tastes in females. The body-builder, chiselled-chest look doesn't do it for me, with the noticeable exception of Geoff Tate of Queensryche. I usually prefer femme-bois or pretty boys.

For females, I like redheads, but that's not a requirement. My wife used to dye her brown hair red and end up with this just wonderful auburn shade. Ye gods, but it was sexy. I don't necessarily find waif-thin women attractive. Right now, my wife would classify as a BBW. I guess that's why I find BBW's in general to be attractive now: they remind me of her.

Actual looks aren't that important to me.  I don't have a physical "type".  My big turn-ons are a twisted sense of humor and a decent I.Q.

Physical fitness and good hygiene are a must. I just have trouble respecting people that don't show they care about their appearance. There also has to be at least some mutual physical attraction as well. I suppose I actually am pretty vain and I have probably never dated a girl or even been interested in a girl that is not at least a decent step above average. I consider that a personality flaw I hope will slowly melt away as I mature more. I am definitely more open-minded than I was two years ago about who I would considering dating.

To me, personality and compatability are the important things.
Beauty is only skin deep.

Simply put, I'm not in this for looks. Any person could look fabulous if they are devoted entirely to their image... but it takes a real character to be the part.  :D
