Title: is it possible progestorone to be stronger than avodart for hair loss??
Post by: deniz on July 20, 2008, 04:51:05 AM
my doc keeps telling me dutasterine(avodart) is the best thing that can be done for hair loss.i keep fighting this battle for years. But i have been on avodart 6 months now and although it is promising with new hair in my hairline, i am shedding like hell(200 hair per day.maybe more)
in the past i just used progesterone(which is also a dht blocker-but not as strong as avodart) and i had no shedding!!
What is happening?am i reacting bad to avodart after 6 months??
why progesterone seems so powerful?
plz share your experience or knowledge

My own personal experience with avodart is your have to endure a fairly long shedding phaze where the older more dormant hairs are pushed out and then replaced with new hairs.

Im not sure about Progesterone and if it blocks both types like avodart (0.5 avodart actually only blocks 90% i believe)but im sure someone will post up very soon or failing that do an "avodart" search on here.

There were some very good discussions a while back about it. I believe however you look at it if hairloss has been significant then any of these regimes will still require hair transplants to probably meet your expectations as most will only block further loss. Im currently looking at this myself and hope to travel to canada and use one of the elite fut transplanters to create my female hairline
