Boycotts, hypocrisy, and the Christian Right's favorite scare tactic

As many readers may be aware, the American Family Association (sponsor of conservative Christian news site OneNewsNow) has organized a boycott of McDonald's. (At various times during the past decade AFA has also boycotted Ford, Target, and Disney.) According to AFA's official "Boycott McDonald's" website, the fast food chain's sin is "refusing to remain neutral in the culture wars". McDonald's is a member of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and has donated money to the organization.  Richard Ellis, Vice President of Communications at McDonald's USA, is on the NGLCC's board of directors.

The "Boycott McDonald's" website explicitly states that "[the boycott] is not about how homosexual employees are treated", but other statements in various AFA documents indicate that this should not be taken at face value.  Only two sentences further, the boycott website follows with "McDonald's has chosen not to remain neutral but to give the full weight of their corporation to promoting the homosexual agenda, including homosexual marriage".  "The homosexual agenda", of course, means "any kinds of protections for LGBT employees". Many statements on AFA's main website make it abundantly clear that same-sex marriage isn't the only issue– they are opposed to any kind of fair and equal treatment for LGBT people.

Perhaps the whole concept of this "miracle" is that "they" have nothing of value to say!

In all of my life, I have NEVER seen any McDonalds employee dressed in anything but their polyester pants and tops.  No one has EVER worn heels that I've seen in these establishments. Oh.... like circumcision?  How bout hysterectomies for convenience and not necessity?  How bout ear piercing for bobbles?  Or nose jobs, hair lip corrections, hair transplants... the list goes on and on and on and on.  What makes these body changes okay and those that we make so wrong?  I really want to know. 

Is not a hysterectomy exactly the same thing as an MTF's GRS? or could it be worse in the eyes of God? I would think that a hysterectomy for convenience the greater sin against God for she is throwing away all of those eggs! And this woman does this because she no longer wants to deal with her period? Think of all the babies that could come from those eggs.  Why... they should be preserved and adopted to worthy parents. Come on bigots, rally to the correct values! 

I could go on and on but this article already quotes stuff that has been quoted at least two or three times already.   I'm just propogating a chain most unworthy of more attention.

Thanks Karen! Totally weird! When I tried to edit last niight, I could see all my text too... but then it was invisible when I hit post. <hears theme music from some horror film, de de de de, de de de de>  >:D Well, everything i posted today works... so far...  ;D
