Hey all,
I don't know about the rest of you in other parts of the US, but here in the NE it has been raining constantly all summer long! :o
We've had maybe a handful of days where it's been nice, but the vast majority of the time it's either raining constantly, or about to rain in the next five minutes. Storm after storm rolls in, it's crazy. Global warming, anyone?

Sara, Tekla, I don't know how you can stay out there. Yeah, I know it's really nice and beautiful weather wise (I went to San Diego for a week last year) but the fires! Oy!
I have an aunt who lives in Northern California, and she recently had a wildfire that came within a few hundred feet of her house before the firefighters stopped it. She and her husband had to evacuate with their dogs and whatever they could fit in the car, I don't know how they did it. That would drive me nuts. Give me three feet of snow any day!

Well in SF it can be cold, up to a 30-40 degree difference between SF and Santa Rosa. So its nice to work when its in the sixties, and then come up to the office and bake in the 90s.

Could use some of that rain since there is a drought going on here. Drove by a man-made pond that is along one of my four routes home the other day and it was basically a big ditch with grass and a spot of water.

I heard that it's the wettest summer on record in New England. It feels almost like we haven't had summer up here.

It's rained more than normal in SE PA. The Delaware has been running at a level a good bit higher than usual for the past 6 weeks. The rocks at the fall-line between Reigelsville and Trenton are genrally invisible and that is unusual for July and August. It's never just a trickle, but the rocks are usually very nice roosting spots for the gulls and ospreys. This year, not so much.

Yea, everyone always talks about the fires and the earthquakes. Honestly, I rarely notice them. It takes a good sized earthquake for me to actually feel it, and the fires have only rarely come close to where I live. I can deal with those a lot better than tornadoes in Kansas, Hurricanes in Florida, and the other crazy weather throughout the rest of the USA.

The weather here (The Valley in Los Angeles) is always sunny, sometimes with clouds (those are the best days). I don't even remember what rain sounds like, or what it feels like falling on my skin. I miss it.

Well, thanks Jenn!!! You apparently made certain it would rain again today!! A huge thunderstorm is in my area and moving in rather quickly. No 10-year old football practice today. Lightning and thunder, bet the river rises.

It's not my fault, sister. Today was actually sunny up here, but I'll bet it'll rain tonight or tomorrow.

Today is the first day in a month where it hasn't rained. Every other day we've had violent storms that last for hours. Lightning every few seconds, howling wind, downed trees and power outages. It's almost a welcome change from several months of 105+ F with 100% humidity, which we had at the beginning of the summer.

QuoteWettest Summer Ever
Yes Jenn, it has been the wettest, hottest summer ever, but they say that we are going to have one of the coldest winters as well, so you see, there has to be a balance for everything in life. Personally, I can't stand hot weather of any kind, especially when it is humid, but it certainly compensates for all the frigid winters we've had for years and years. *giggles* ;D

Jenn,
Not only has it been wet, this has to be the stormiest summer I have ever seen. I have never seen hail fall so hard as to cover the ground like snow. Hail the size of quarters and larger. Not just once, but multiple times. I know that this is not uncommon in the Midwest, but we just don't get that here in the Empire State - not multiple times. And the storm system we had last week was a true Nor'easter. Hail. Waterspouts. Rotating storm cells. All the fun stuff. I know the apple crop where i live has been seriously damaged due to the hail. Other crops have been hurt just as bad.
You know, the meteorologist in me is wondering if this is the first sign that the weather patterns are shifting. I have speculated that the reason we have not had more Katrina's & Rita's is that the weather patterns are shifting north.
I suspect that winter is going to be early and interesting.

I know what you mean Chaunte, that really bad storm rolled through my area last week, Holy Goddess, the thunder shook my building, I'm not even kidding. The street out front flooded within like five minutes, cars were going by and sending up huge waves onto the sidewalks. It was crazy. If winter comes sooner, I'm going to be shocked because it gets really cold up here, like -20* and lower with the wind chill. :o

I just took a look at the long-term forecast for temperature and precip. It looks like warmer than normal temperatures but normal precip. Since it's been so cloudy, Lake Ontario hasn't really warmed. So, the precip prediction makes sense. If the weather patterns are moving north, just speculation, then the tem[perature forecast also works.
