well today I went to my Doctor and had a big talk to him about my feelings and how I am TG, and he said he was very happy for me that i've finally been able to tell him and he gave me a referal to a psychiatrist to go and see :-D :-D

well I called the therapist's rooms to make an appointment but theres a years waiting list :-(

Could you ask your doctor for a recommendation to another therapist?  Or perhaps look for another one yourself? 

Hi katiekins, well congrats on the good start with your DR. Sorry to hear about the year long waiting list, I never heard of that before. I set up everything with my psychiatrist for GID evaluation by a gender specialists and the endocrinologist in the first four months and started HRT immediately after. But I guess maybe I was lucky or something. if I were you I would do what Natalie suggested and I do pray all goes well.

Have you checked our list of gender counselors by state under our Medical links?  Try another counselor.

thanks for the advice everyone.

I was going to look for another therapist. but when ever I ask anyone for reccomendations hes the only one they reccomend and Id on't wanna go to one thats not very good

edit** just looked at the therapists section of this site, there are none listed for Australia.   is there anywhere I go to submit one?

Do a google search as follows.     Gender therapist   (Name of City)   

Or try, transgender resources    (Name of City)

After doing a search on google and talking to some other Trans people in my city i've discovered that the therapist that I've got the referal to go and see is the only one who deals with Gender Id Issues in Adelaide.  my only other option is to go to melbourne which I cannot afford even if I had somewhere to stay while over there.   Oh well. guess i'll just have to suck it up and keep calling periodically to check if theres been any cancelations at all.

Hi  katiekins hon, sorry to hear that, that sucks. sounds like Australia is not much better then the UK. Anyway I will send prayers that some opening for you will present itself sooner.
