Because instead of putting your self first you, you put them. Think about every action, desision you are going to make and how it will affect them.

Constantly they are on your mind. When you will see them next, how they smile, make you feel, how they kiss, little things they do which makes you think "wow".

*sigh* thats love...

I am inclined to say so, yes.

In terms of the individual, I think that yes it does. Definitely. But, in terms of the relationship and the dynamics of the relationship... it depends on whether those feelings are reciprocated. You can't make someone love you the same way you love them. But you can love them unconditionally and hope that they'll come to feel the same way. If there's a spark there, it may take the wind of time to breathe life into it and turn it into a flame of desire.

However, if two people are in love with each other, that is a force that is pretty hard to beat by anything this world and this life has to throw at it. You strengthen each other, the relationship becomes synergetic... each challenge serves only to remind both people how much they love each other and how they can overcome everything because of the connection they have with their love.

As Jay pointed out, sense of self is relegated to the background in favour of devotion to the object of your affection. Doing everything you can to make them happy, to see that beautiful smile and the light in their eyes shine just a little brighter... that is one of the best feelings there is.

Those are my thoughts, anyway. :)

Does love conquer all? *sigh*

I wish it did, but there is much in the world: poverty, hatred, prejudice, sadness, hostility, addiction, global capitalism that isn't easily conquered at all.

But I think love can make a dint in those things, can certainly help us to feel that not all is lost and that we are willing to persevere and find ways to overcome the darts of cruel fortune. :)

No, it doesn't conquer all; but, it sure makes the fight a lot easier knowing we are not alone in facing what each day brings.

Love does, indeed, conquer, though only for a while.  :)

I would like to say yes, but sadly I've come to believe not. Not romantic love anyways. All too often, other forces prove much stronger. As Nichole points out, things like ideology or personal beliefs, money, family/relatives etc. can all put strain on love till it just crumbles.

On the other hand, the kind of unattached, universal love that people working towards enlightenment cultivate usually proves a much stronger and more enduring force. Showing true compassion to people changes them and the world more fundamentally than pretty-much anything else I've seen. It just takes time.

Maybe i'd have said yes a few years ago...

But even two people being in love with each other isn't even enough to keep a relationship together.  Love along with trust and honesty might have a better chance of conquering all.  But even then life can get in the way.

I am an old romantic at heart, And I have to say 'Yes'.  But it does take work on the part of both parties.  Trust, honesty, communication, open mindedness.

There has never been a point throughout all of human history when such evils did not exist in one form or another. Love will not conquer human history, but it does conquer one human at a time, and makes it alot nicer for us during our stay here.
