Hi....Thanks for dropping in!
I've been wondering if I should start this one for a while now, particularly as I know that so many of you are more into Rock and Chillout...
..But if I don't try, I won't find out if there is anyone else here interested...
What I'm looking for here is some powerful dance music...call it Trance, Rave, Garage, House.... :eusa_dance: Whatever, but no R&B please!
..I have been a DJ and sound engineer for over 35 years (honest), and have a very wide range of musical taste.....
...but when I want loose myself for a while (as we sometimes need to) this is the stuff I now find is the best reality blocker...
SOOOOO..Hook up that sub-bass, close the windows, throw off the coat, and get ready to work-it....Things could get a little LOUD!
............Or here goes with another one of my potentially zero response threads...you decide!..... ;D
Motorcycle ~ As the Rush Comes.... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=D8hKfhsSLlI (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=D8hKfhsSLlI)
Jurgen Vries ~ The Wilderness....... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=bz6GIJeaoZw (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=bz6GIJeaoZw)
Paul Van Dyk - Crush................ http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=tJwcf5C8T3k (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=tJwcf5C8T3k)

I adore that motorcycle track. Absolutely love it. :)
I'm not overly keen on the PVD track, it's that kind of industrial type stuff that turned me off him and more onto Armin and Above & Beyond.
What else ya got? ;)
Edit: Here's one from me...

There is a tape out there of one of the first Black Sabbath concerts, where Ozzy (thin, and not totally wacked out on drugs, yet) is just staring at Tommy playing the riffs. God, I wish I could find it to put it up here. Power and the Glory.
That, and Paul Oakenfold's opening set for Madonna at Coalchillia. Awesome. Even for Paul.

Anytime the band was lead by Tommy Iommi and not Ozzy, it was a better band.

Never a big Queen fan, always thought it was overblown, and pretentious rock/shlock. However, live, in concert, Freddie was the ->-bleeped-<-. He did have pipes.

OK...OK...
Thank you all for dropping in, I was giging last night so this has been my first chance to respond....
Liea ~ Top class as ever......I really liked the operatic vocals on Tears Of An Angel, not quiet so taken by Solar Project, but after few more listens may change my mind... ;D
bethzerosix ~ Excellent, loved the track, any more hidden away? :eusa_dance:
And Debbie and Janet...What can I say? :o They were loud, "takes ear plugs out" though not quiet the music type I was looking for. But I really appreciate the effort put into the posts and I do like the tracks, I used to play a small basement rock bar in the early 80's with 300 people crammed in (fire limit of 250 if I remember right)....sweat used to run down the walls!! .....Oh and Debbie, I was actually born in the same town as Ozzie, but that's anoher story.. :icon_biggrin:
You can stop poking me with that stick now Janet.... :icon_chainsaw:
Telka ~ you better call them up then... But I stick with the smaller gigs and bands... there's more personal contact and excitement, and I only carry a 2.6kw sound system these days, which saves my back and the garage space! :eusa_doh:
OK ...back to some more dance music.....
WAY OUT WEST - AJARE...... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=55WlhujHDzI (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=55WlhujHDzI)

@ Chrissty:
Please, don't get mad at me, hon! This ain't exactly dance music, but, OOOHHH, does it kick a mean butt! Here goes ...
@ Janet Lynn:
Now, Janet's a girl who REALLY knows kick-ass tunes! GREAT PICKS, BABES! ;)
Well, you COULD dance to this ... if you really wanted to. Pete Townsend manages to. Rock's loudest-ever band (Blue Cheer gave 'em a run for the money though!) ... rock's all-time greatest drummer (Sadly, long since deceased and the Gene Krupa of the rock era.) ... rock's greatest scream (End of song.) ... in about 1978 or thereabouts ... tune originally recorded in 1971, I believe:
The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again (live with Keith Moon) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP65fJu7_J4#)
Okay, sorry! Rocker Grrrl here will make amends. Okay, this is NOT loud, but if we're talkin' dancin' ..., why not blast to the past with the masters themselves? Low sound level here:
Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell (good quality) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWW6QeeVzDc#)

Rock's loudest-ever band (Blue Cheer gave 'em a run for the money though!)
Officially, that's Lemmy and Motorhead, far and away louder than the Who or Blue Cheer. On my db meter it's Nine Inch Nails coming in at 123db (C weighted - i.e. in the back of the hall).

Decibel records
[edit] 1969
Led Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker" is said to have reached 130 dB observed by a team of participants at the American Speech–Language–Hearing Association.[3] Daniel Kreps of Rolling Stone argues that "Whole Lotta Love" established Led Zeppelin's reputation as one of the loudest bands of their time.[4]
[edit] 1972
Deep Purple broke the record and were recognized by The Guinness Book of World Records as the "loudest pop group" when in a concert at the London Rainbow Theatre their sound reached 117 dB. Three of their audience members were rendered unconscious.[5]
[edit] 1976
The Who were listed as the "record holder", at 126 dB, measured at a distance of 32 meters from the speakers at a concert at The Valley (home ground of Charlton Athletic F.C.) on 31 May 1976.[6]

This record may have been broken ... by now. With today's technology, that is likely. The 1960s-1970s are "my era." To me, and this just my own opinion, I never followed anybody after Guns 'n Roses. To me, GNR was the last truly great rock band. You may be right about the modern-era record. Again, I quit following this stuff after GNR ... whose heyday was in, say, 1988-1991.
Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Megadeath, Motorhead, Judas Priest, Pantera, etc., etc., etc. Loud? Definitely. Entertaining? Certainly. Good? You bet. Memorable and excellent music? No way. They were moreorless (IMHO) mediocrities (... talented ones to be sure ...) who never could hold a candle to ... The Who, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath (... who receives my vote for the greatest heavy band ever (Sabotage album in 1975) ... period.).
IMHO, this, the coda to their masterpiece album, ... (Gives you the ominous feeling that something evil this way comes!) ... is consummate artistry! :
Black Sabbath - The Writ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XezK7Pi7fvw#)
Back in The Day, bands like The MC 5, Blue Cheer, etc., would fall into that same category. Decent ... interesting ... entertaining ... but not great by any means. AC/DC? Decent, but again ... .
Black Sabbath ... the best heavy band? Wel-l-l-l-l-l, there ARE counter-arguments:

Musical taste is personal and individual. I certainly respect your opinion. If people do not respect mine, that is their choice, and that is fine. I say, "Live and let live." Peace. ;)
