So my endo gave me a scrip for Finasteride, which she says insurance won't cover.  I assume she knows what she's talking about, but will do my due diligence and check for sure. 
Anyway, she had suggested I might try using a mail order pharmacy from Canada or Mexico to save on money. 
Does anyone have any suggestions, some place that they've used before, good, quick service, etc.?  I'd prefer a recommendation from a real place that a real person has used, not just some random place I can find with Google.


I would like to emphasize that I have a prescription, and am seeking a legal pharmaceutical seller.  I am NOT seeking to self medicate.

I used ... once 'cos I lost a packet of progynova (and I didn't want to have to go and tell my Endo). I got delivery very quickly and the price was in line with the local pharmacy cost (which is discounted through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme). So that one might be worth a look, although it may cost more and take longer to get to America.

While I appreciate your situation, I do not think it is wise (or acceptable under the rules) to list internet sites as this would help others to illegally obtain the hormones.

I am sure you could take your prescription to any local drug store and get inexpensive service.

Pharmacy prices vary widely.  It pays to shop around.

Do we really think users of this site are unable to find online pharms?  They found this site didn't they?  Anyway the original poster was asking about finasteride NOT estrogen or other therapist letter required drugs.  I'm guessing you could walk into most dr offices and walk out with a finasteride prescription for hair loss.  And if not you can get a rent-a-doc over the internet to give you a legal one in minutes.  So are we really talking about the same thing?

The original poster did specifically say she had a legal prescription and even pointed out that the Dr herself said use mail order.  Insurance isn't going to cover ... finasteride (Propecia) dose because its for "cosmetic" purposes.  Now if the Dr had given a prescription for ... and just told her to cut them up then yes a normal drugstore would be the way to go (generic available and you get 120 pills for the 30 pill price).  However retail drugstore cost on Propecia, since it is still protected against [legal] generics, is high.  Give the op can pay >$50 a month or $75 for a year, which do you think she should do?

8. The discussion of hormone replacement therapy(HRT) and it's medications are permitted, with the following limitations:

A. Advocating for or against a specific medication or combinations of medications for personal gain is strictly prohibited.
B. Discussing the means to acquire HRT medications without a prescription, and self medication without a doctors care is prohibited.
C. Discussing dosages is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.

We can not in good conscience condone the self administering of these medications. Not only may self medication be illegal, but HRT medications can cause serious health problems, and many have the potential for life-threatening side effects that can only be detected and prevented with proper medical supervision.

You are allowed to do what you wish on your own, but becareful what you promote here.

Finasteride is not a HRT drug. 

Let me repeat that:  Finasteride is NOT a HRT drug.

It is a prostate reduction drug that happens to help hair growth too.

Furthermore it is ONLY sold in 2 doses.  Propecia/Proscar have specific active ingredient levels (this is not dosage per say).  Giving strength levels of finsteride inside a pill of Propecia is NOT giving personal dosage information, but rather stating what is written on the bottle of the drug.  As far as removing the amount of active ingredient in the druge, you can find dozens of references to the amounts of finasteride in Propecia/Proscar on this forum.

How you have applied this rule basically says that we can't talk about what level of minoxidil to use (normal or extra strength) because we're using a dosage value (x% or y%).

For US locations I find Fred's and Walmart have fairly low prices on prescription. Here is a online pharmacy I use to get medications legally it's US base and you need to fax them your prescription.

The other site I go to I can't post but I really don't think a lot of the generic from India are the same quality made else where.

There's a place that I can wholeheartedly recommend called Masters Marketing (http://www.masters-uk.com/medicines/home.php). I've never heard of a bad thing about them in the places I visit on such things.

There are reputable mailorder pharmacies that require legitimate scripts from doctors. Use Google.

I'm sure your right in the word of the rules, though not necessarily the spirit.  Technically Androcur is also licensed as a prostate reduction drug for use against cancer, but i don't think anyone's gonna argue its not HRT!

anyway to the OP, i'm not so sure that using mail order companies is necessarily different from self-medicating.  There's the same risks since most companies operate in countries requiring minimal (if any) regulation, and you can't be certain what your going.  And from my experience of looking at british prescription-only mail order companies, you don't save much on price either compared to real-world pharmacies.  If you go to a local pharmacy, there's at least more accountablility to your county's regulators etc.

My spouse also takes hormones for her PCOS.

What we found, is that some of our meds were cheaper at places like costco (dramatically cheaper)
and some were cheaper online (way, way cheaper)

the best we've found has been to get some of them online, and some from local places.
Walmart and Costco being by far the cheapest locally.

The best deal we found was by shopping arround for different locations for different meds.

We are both uninsured, and so the significant savings found by shopping arround is worth it to us.

Even if you are going to get some online, I'd still recomend from personal experience, getting it filled at least once, from a local pharmacy like walgreens or costco, so you can get an easy medical record of it.

Online pharmacy's often don't keep medical records.

Also Walmart has their $4 deal, maybe you can get it there.
