INFP - The "Dreamer" Jungian Personality Types (Free Test)

INFPs are introspective, private, creative and highly idealistic individuals that have a constant desire to be on a meaningful path. They are driven by their values and seek peace. Empathetic and compassionate, they want to help others and humanity as a whole. INFPs are imaginitive, artistic and often have a talent for language and writing. They can also be described as easygoing, selfless, guarded, adaptable, patient and loyal.

INTP: "The Engineer"  (always)

Introverted   84
Intuitive       74
Thinking       58
Perceiving     58

"INTPs live in the world of theoretical possibilities. They see everything in terms of how it could be improved, or what it could be turned into. They live primarily inside their own minds, having the ability to analyze difficult problems, identify patterns, and come up with logical explanations. They seek clarity in everything, and are therefore driven to build knowledge. They are the "absent-minded professors", who highly value intelligence and the ability to apply logic to theories to find solutions."

"They like being the architect of a plan, because of the scheming and thinking involved, far more than being the implementer of that plan. Implementation tends to be drudgery."

Yeah...pretty much. :)

Hmm so far INFPs are the dominant personality here. Interesting our only extravert isn't even androgyne (me). Didn't mean to screw the results but can't go back and remove it.

Very interesting that INFPs supposedly make up only 1% of the population yet seems to be prevalent in androgynes. What to make of that.  :eusa_think:

(I didn't vote)
I usually score INTJ or INTP, depending on my mood at the time. Apparently it is common for "P"s to score as "J"s, however I tend to score the "J" more often than "P"(?). I have read some people fluctuate based on time of day, so it could be something like that.

Leslie Ann! At long last I've met another INTP-and/or-J! I always test extremely INT- and pretty much smack in the middle P/J-wise.

I agree. These terms are too black and white. For a lot of them my reactions would really depend on the situation.

68% extrovert
53% intuition
58% thinking
58% perceiving

I've done this test before though and gotten wildly varied types.

these days I am        INFJ - The "Confidant"

QuoteINFJs, making up an estimated 1% of all people, are the most rare type (males even more so). They are introspective, caring, sensitive, gentle and complex people that strive for peace and derive satisfaction from helping others. INFJs are highly intuitive, empathetic and dedicated listeners. These traits tend to act as a "tell me what's wrong" sign on their forehead, hence the nicknames Confidant, Counselor or Empath. INFJs are intensely private and deeply committed to their beliefs.

I must have gotten this before. I recall thinking I was a counselor.

Counselor Reebs

I just realized what the bolded sentence says.  Is it Males or Male bodied people? Most likely they mean people born with male bodies. But, do these people identify as male?  'cause, I sure as hell don't.

you dig what I'm saying?

how come there are no "You are a murdering thieving selfish psycho [MTSP]" ones?

Eh... I see myself as more of an extrovert than an introvert, but I hate crowds and large parties with lots of people I don't know... I most hate being alone though.

There are. But it would put it as, 'You are a proactive person with a steady focus and a drive to achieve your ends."
I mean yours actually says, "You are lonely and emotional and nutters like to you their problems, because no one else is a patsy enough to sit and listen."

It's all in how you read them :)

In that case, mine basically says that I'm good at thinking about things, but completely useless when it comes to doing them, i.e., I have no practical skills (which is why i want my Ph.D...so I can teach and not 'do').  Which is totally true.  >:-)

Very interesting that INFPs supposedly make up only 1% of the population yet seems to be prevalent in androgynes. What to make of that.

I started this poll after seeing the poll results of a MBTI on another transgender forum that I am a member of. I was wondering if something similar would happen on this forum. Amazingly, the results of both forums aren't that different.

The trueselves poll had this result:

http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k397/sympathy110/pollres1-cropped.png?t=1226646840 (http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k397/sympathy110/pollres1-cropped.png?t=1226646840)

I want to note that I voted INFP on that forum because there was no INTP option. I should also note that the trueselves forum is heavily comprised of young transitioners, and that forum is at this moment swamped with mtfs.

I think there is some sort of connection, but make of it what you want.

It's interesting. They're aren't an extraordinary amount of androgynes who are INTJs, but from discussions with other INTJs, it seems as though a lot of them seem to have lowered gender perception, if any. I wonder if the same sort of thing exists within INxP groups as well.

The first time I took this, in 2005, I got INFP. The about a year ago I took it in a Dyadic Communication class and was INTP. Now I'm back again as an INFP. I really feel like it fits me better, though when I find something that really gets me my F turns into a T.

INTP

i always get that, though i used to be on the f/p line. i think the results might be skewed a bit because this is an internet forum about such introspective issues, which would make it more likely for introverted feeler types to be interested.

How fascinating the ton of people in the INXX category. Such a strong majority!

Maybe introverts and intuitive strong people know themselves better?

That happens. I've taken variants of the test a few times over the years, and while I'm consistently (and pretty strongly) IN, the other two are much closer to the middle and can go whichever way. INTP is the most common result for me, but I've got INFJ as well.

Keep in mind that it's only the rarest tested type. Though, on the other hand, the Is rule the internet, and the INs in particular are the most likely to hang around forums dedicated to exploring the self, which probably explains the prevalence of the four rarest types here.

And then again, perhaps an IN personality makes it easier to thumb one's nose at the external pressures of binary gender roles and go one's own way. This would appear to be consistent with how the introverted/extroverted axis is defined, and perhaps also the intuitive/sensing.

Nope, consider yourself Pleasantly Ignorant about it, which means, not only do you not know anything, not knowing anything makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside too.  Which also, at least to my crew, means "Hey, when you find out all about that, don't tell me."

Then again, there's nothing wrong with pseudoscience as long as you know that's what you are doing.

A case in point, back when I still lived with my parents I once found a book on astrology. It looked like a nice exercise in celestial mechanics with some weird interpretations added on top if it, so armed with a couple of elementary courses in astronomy I went at it. When I presented nice and properly done horoscopes to my family members they all agreed how well each description fit the person -- right up to the point where I admitted that I'd mixed them randomly. But that was just the icing on the cake, doing the astrology was fun too. Thanks for reminding me of this episode. :)

ENFP (sometimes I get ENFJ on other tests)

Extraverted - 79%
Intuition - 100%
Feeling - 84%
Perceiving - 63%

I think INFP's are common on most forums I read (not just TG forums) so I think it has more to do with the fact the internet media attracts them and not so much that a majority of "x" is INFP.

I've taken this test (or ones similar to it) many times and I've always come up INFP.

Extroverted 16% - 84% Introverted
Sensing 16% - 84% Intuition
Thinking 26% - 74% Feeling
Judging 21% - 79% Perceiving

I actually thought my results might be different this time, as it's been several years since the last time I've taken one of these tests, and I'm pretty sure I answered some of the questions differently than I used to, but nope, I'm still INFP.

Darn, I so wanted to be the non-conformist here. I can't even say I was borderline. I guess I'll go sulk in a corner, and concentrate on being egocentric.

But I was so close to 50% on all the measures apart from the N, which doesn't surprise me, as I kept staring in panic at the options and thinking "but I do both of those, at the same time".

(sorry, I know I'm somwhat behind here; just thought I'd read some of the old Androgyne topics :) )

Register and take the test...

http://www.mypersonality.info/personality-types/ (http://www.mypersonality.info/personality-types/)

I got INTP. Sometimes, I get INFP through...

The Meyers Briggs personality test is a variation of something in psychology called the forer effect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forer_effect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forer_effect)

The personality type definitions are so vague that if they were jumbled one could pull different ideas from a different personality type and equally say the same things about themselves. The results are no more accurate than the generalizations that are found in horoscopes.

I think we probably realise that, but it gives us something to talk about.

Yet another INFP here

Z

This is really remarkable. Maybe it goes to explain, at least somewhat, why despite my strong feeling of identifying female, so far in my life I have really acted more as an androgyne? Or maybe not. My circumspection comes back again to add to the pile of doubts.

I have noted a pretty high frequency of INFP types (way more than the very low frequency they are in the general population) whenever I've seen MBTI questions posed to more general groups of trans folk too.

So my therapist said. However, I did Myers-Briggs typing on myself long before I ever saw this asked among transfolk. Do you have a good explanation for the much higher frequency of INFPs here, and in other non-random polls I've seen among transfolk?

I have some of the same reservations about many areas of psych theory, (especially those relating to trans* identities) for what it's worth, areas my former therapist seemed to have little skepticism about, despite the fact that many of them have also been challenged and seemingly discredited in the intervening years.

Out of interest, Keirsey game me ENFP, and (apparently!) the last time I took it 12 years ago, I got INFJ. Lik I said, I suspect I'm acually somewhere in the middle with a lot of these, as I tend to do a mix of both given options in all situations.

I'm breaking the pattern of iNtuitives, I guess, I'm an ISTP. I'm not a huge fan of most online type indicator tests, though I've probably taken all of them out of curiosity and to find patterns, I found my type mostly through studying the typing systems of MB, Keirsey, and Jung.

ENFP - The "Advocate"
Temperament: NF (Visionary)

Extraverted 58%
Intuition 68%
Feeling 79%
Perceving 63%

ENFPs are introspective, values-oriented, inspiring, social and extremely expressive. They actively send their thoughts and ideas out into the world as a way to bring attention to what they feel to be important, which often has to do with ethics and current events. ENFPs are natural advocates, attracting people to themselves and their cause with excellent people skills, warmth, energy and positivity. ENFPs are described as creative, resourceful, assertive, spontaneous, life-loving, charismatic, passionate and experimental.

I am not androgyne but its still a fun quiz  ;D, most of life is androgynous as is personality type(noticed the topic subject and forum eheh)

I took the the test and am a ISTP. I'd venture to say I'm mechanical to the max(ie. took auto/diesel/small engine mechnanics/carpentry/welding in my younger years  :P, so hmmm, lol), i am extremely curious to known why things work, yea I know these tests are tentatively accurate, but well, it kinda resembles me. I'm mostly reasonable and logical(ie. that is changing due to the hrt I'm on, more emotional nowadays at times, lol).

Lucia, eh, at least it got everybody chatting  8)

I use seemingly unrelated stuff to build things or develop ideas or systems. I see the stuff that others miss.

This is an internet phenomenon mostly.  INXX tend to dominate the internet.  It almost doesn't matter the subject, if you do an internet poll, you'll get mostly INXX types that respond.  ;)
