This cause is a good one. As most of you remember, Duanna Johnson was the transwoman who was beaten by two police officers inside a Memphis police station. The news went national when the security camera tape was leaked to the press. She was suing the Memphis Police Department and getting ready to return to Chicago when she was gunned down in the street earlier this month.
Duanna had a hard life. For the past several months (at least) she had been living in a house which had neither electricity nor water. She depended on neighbors for some of her most basic needs, and some of them were less than tolerant.
Holy cow! I just checked the donation site, and they have already raised more than $5000! They were only seeking $1100. Its very encouraging to know that so many people care.
