Oh good Thanksgiving gravy...  From Pacifica Radio comes "God Hates ->-bleeped-<-s" Protests Nation's First Transgender Mayor (http://election411.org/article/id/4824320/free-speech-radio-news-headlines-monday-november-24-2008): The small town of Silverton, Oregon has become the first city in the United States to elect an openly transgendered mayor. While many LGBT rights advocates are hailing this as a watershed event, today another group - with a distinctly different outlook - is descending on the bedroom community. FSRN's Jes Burns reports from Oregon.

I'd like to gather a group of other short guys to run around protesting people for being tall. Anyone else in? We could surround basketball games with picket signs, march in front of Mr. Big and Tall shops. I think our message would get across and people would stop being so darn tall.

Just make sure you cite something in the Bible to support your position. Didn't 'god' say somewhere or another, in the Koran or the Talmud or the Bible that being tall was an abomination? :)

That church (and I not only use the term lightly, but also am not going to mention their names) really needs to get a life.

Fr those thinking them protesting is a bad thing, keep in mind that most people are absolutely disgusted with this group and anything they do, is usually seen as the wrong thing.


For those wondering these were the same kooks who were protesting at military funerals.

I'd go and scream at them in a curmudgeony voice "Don't you have a job you should be at, punks?!"

I'd prefer to vandalize them with spray paint.

Tall women escape my wrath. I find them quite beautiful as long as they don't prefer guys to be taller. It's tall men that attract the smites. Besides, there's something fun about slow dancing with a woman when you only reach breast height on her :)

Oh thank you, I'm still new at this being the conduit of God stuff.On a serious note, I never thought about that - the arrogance required to make pronouncements like Phelps does. It's mind-boggling really. The few times I've been to a (regular Christian) church and listened to sermons, the minister has always been very humble and gentle. Even Catholic priests, who tend to be a bit more rigid, with years of doctrine behind them, don't come near to this Phelps fellow.

I still perfer the method local churches here use for dealing with them.  As soon as a church gets word that a protest is coming (and make no mistake, they advertise where they are going so they get media coverage), they start collecting pledges of how much money people will donate per minute the protest goes on. The total usually ends up being in the tens of thousands of dollars. Then the organizers of the pledge drive send a thank you note to the Phelps church along with a report of how much money they raised. Churches that have done this, have hoped Phelps and company would return, but they never do.

You know I praise the lord for people like Fred and his ilk.  Otherwise I'd be forced to battle the forces of religion day in and day out, but he's out there every day doing my work for me.  With Fred on the job I just be kicking it old school style.
