All very good choices Deniz hun
they all have Yahoo groups associated with them if you care to join and much more detailed discussions than generally take place here. If you search for other Yahoo groups there are also many other groups their names and subjects appear but those three are a great start.

I agree that any of the three are good choice. I went to Dr. McGinn and other then some grandulated tissue, have not had any problems. Stream is arrow straight now and I was riding a bike at 3 months. Apperance is also very good.
YMMV

Choosing your surgeon is probably one of the most important steps that you will have to deal with during your transition. There are many to choose from and likewise many opinions on the skill of the surgeons concerned and the results they produce.
The other point to note is that many tend to only speak of their surgeon and their experience in a positive light when on public forums where those who experienced less that favorable results tend to speak in private or anonymously.
That being said their are several members here at Susan's who have written about their experience. I'm a Brassard girl myself and you can read about my experience, my thoughts, etc. in my Blog Dancing Backwards (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,130.0.html%20%5Bu)
Good luck in your search

i am on my way reviewing, and so far i have discovered the following flaws
1) bowers. she sometimes has bad days( providing poor results) and also very bad urine stream.
2)brassard. Very good appearance, but when you are sexual aroused the result is not normal( makes clitoris too swollen in a bad way) do you experience that steph?
3) suporn. dangerous method.lots of icomplications sometimes but great result if you are patient enough.

Deniz:
All of the top SRS surgeons have performed hundreds, if not thousands, of surgeries.
Out of these numbers it is an almost statistical certainty that something, somewhere will go wrong.
And out of those myriad of people, someone, sometime, will have results that they are not satisfied with.
Surgery is NOT safe! Major surgery more so. And SRS is MAJOR surgery.
Surgery is an extremely perilous effort that surgeons themselves often liken to driving at high speed, down a dark road, on ice, for several hours. You will never be closer to death, and live to tell about it, than when you are under general anesthesia.
Every effort is taken to ensure the health and safety of the patient, but things can still happen.
So, yes, hearing of stories from these world renown surgeons about less than optimal results is understandable.
What you have to do is try to find out what are the statistics of the patients who are unsatisfied vs those who are satisfied. Then make your choice from there.
Also it is natural for we post-op people to feel that the surgeon that did their surgeries are the best. We're biased. It is unusual for someone to stand up and say their surgery went bad (though we do have at least one here who did just that).
This is not an easy decision, nor should it be. This is a one way trip, with only one chance, usually, to get it right. Think long and hard about what you want and who you want to do it. But if you are looking for the *perfect* surgeon to perform a flawless surgery every time, you will be sadly disappointed.

Huh? Where did you get this information from? I'm sorry but I haven't heard any negative stories about these surgeons. Are these stories you talk about backed up by evidence or are they just hearsay? I wonder what the "bad tongues" are saying about Dr. Meltzer! *sighs* ::)

any surgical intervention has it's risks, and i know it.
i was operated by jiri vesely in 2003
the surgery went really well and no complications and post op care was great
but almost 2 months after , there where some complications the clitoris got infected and there was necrosis of the urethra.
in other words a urinary infection with necrotic tissue.
not a single doctor or emergency room would help with the treatment that was needed at that time.
the treatment being removal of necrotic tissue and putting a catheter in the urinary track and some antibiotics to help the healing process.
instead the doctors and the hospital gave me an anti biotic known as cypro.
( it has now been taken of the market it has proven to be a dangerous antibiotic) i took this medication for one month.
finally i was so discouraged i returned to dr. vesely who took good care of this problem ( free of charge) he was in disbelief that no one in quebec would help me with such a simple procedure. i was his first girl from north america.
he has performed many surgeries m to f and f to m and is very open about the post-op issues and i can state he will tell you of the risks involved thta is why he requires a one month stay for post-op follow up
good luck to all of you god bless

As it has been stated before: This is a major surgery and all surgeons will have some off days when doing thousands of these types of surgeries. You have named all good surgeons which are all fairly consistant.
I am a Bowers girl and I like how she is always working to improve her technique. The hospital staff and care was outstanding....the best I've ever had, and I've had 30 surgeries(non - trans related). I am very pleased with the results. I found the most difficult aspect of surgery with doctor Bowers was the altitude of Trinidad. (Tough for ashma and a constant battle against dehydration)
