Within 11 days of overwhelmingly supporting the election of an African-American as president of the United States, Syracuse was home to a violent attack against an innocent woman whose apparent killer was offended to learn that she had started out life as a man.
The man born Moses Cannon died as a woman named LaTeisha, "Teish" to her friends and family members, after being shot while sitting in a parked car outside a party on Seymour Street on Friday, Nov. 14. She was 22. Police say her killer was angered by Cannon's status as a transsexual.
