Many members of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender/Transsexual community, also known as GLBT, were devastated when the results for the November 2008 election were announced. Though they were pleased at the prospects of what a new administration could bring, this joy was overshadowed by the fact that Proposition 8 had been passed. In order for Proposition 8 to have been seen on the November ballot it had to be presented with 694,354 valid signatures, and on June 2, 2008 it qualified with 1,120,801 signatures.

Quote from: ArticleJon Jans, a pre-med student at Lake Land, believes "Prop 8 and laws like it are just what this society needs." Jans also noted, "clearly, if there are states who are entertaining the idea of allowing this there is a nationwide problem. Now I have to worry about guys checking me out because the concept is becoming more and more socially acceptable."Is this what it's all about? ??? ::)
