As I pass the halfway mark on my way toward the date when I can start the process of being approved for genital reconstructive surgery, I think a lot about what's down there now. GRS is very serious and very final. You do not want to go ahead with it unless you are very, very sure that you will want the result for the rest of your life. After GRS, you will never have a penis and testicles again.
So I ponder the penis—and testicles too. Unlike many trans women, I don't hate my genitalia. I never have. I was born with this particular configuration of external parts. They're not foreign objects. They're not grotesque They're part of me.
