Transgender people shouldn't force views, situation on others
Daily Lobo (http://media.www.dailylobo.com/media/storage/paper344/news/2008/12/04/Opinion/Transgender.People.Shouldnt.Force.Views.Situation.On.Others-3569758.shtml)

I was disappointed to see a one-quarter-page ad in the Nov. 21 Daily Lobo issue alerting readers of "Transgender worship: Creating a trans-inclusive campus."
To begin with, I personally don't have a problem with anyone who claims to be transgender. A person's claims to be one gender or another, or a person's sexual preference, are protected by the Constitution. Everyone has a right to practice whatever he or she believes as long as it does not interfere with other people's rights
to think and practice what they believe.

What idiocy!
Here is clearly a member of the dominant culture who doesn't understand that transpeople are marginalized and discriminated against and don't enjoy the priviledges of power that he takes for granted. We have a "Day of Remembrance" because transfolks have been killed and are routinely threatened. We want a "trans-inclusive campus" to remove barriers so that we can be "satisfied to live and let live", the very thing he says that we should want.
It's ironic at the end of the piece he seems so opposed to attending anything akin to a trans awareness workshop. He sounds like the kind of person who needs it the most.

Others shouldn't force their views on and dictate the situations of transgendered people.

Larry H. Crum has also sent a couple letters complaining about peer mentoring for POC grad students and a letter calling gays whiners for complaining that they are banned from donating blood. In that letter he wasn't content dissing gays, so he decided to toss in a general complaint about "special rights" for anyone with "some minority issue."
The people who left comments regarding his letter did a good job, but I don't think we can reach this guy. He's up to his ears in BS.
