Title: Homemade STPs?
Post by: icontact on December 22, 2008, 12:03:20 AM
Are there any ways of making one? I've not really a problem with going into the men's room as being noticed sitting down. At least 75% of the school knows that I'm female-bodied, and the rest probably have their doubts so, it would immediately give me away. And I'm just paranoid when it comes to bathrooms outside school.

I've tried the coffee can lid thing, it didn't really do anything except direct the flow a few inches forward, but not enough for me to be able to stand back from the toilet.

Any suggestions would be great. ;D

:-\ Chet, that requires me being able to get at a packy and that plastic thing. I'm not able to order anything right now. Trying to find an option that I can find in an everyday store and make myself.

There's the classic medicine spoon technique. :P

I've found something that, for me, is superior to the medicine spoon technique.  I tried the medicine spoon thing, but found that the hard plastic cup thing was, um, pretty uncomfortable.  But more importantly, I had a heckuva time directing a stream out of the other end.  The hole you drill has to be perfectly straight and a clean cut for it to work; if you just cut the entire end off, liquid doesn't exit like a stream... more like a mini-waterfall.  Not realistic at all, IMO.

Instead, try getting a medicine dropper (the one I used was from Wal-Mart & came packaged with a medicine spoon; look in the pharmacy section).  The medicine dropper has a vinyl bulb at the end that is *very* easy to cut with a utility knife or an X-acto blade.  Cut the vinyl bulb in a similar shape to the spoon end of the medicine spoon.  The bulb and the spoon are actually about the same size.  Don't get one of those *really* tiny medicine droppers; the dropper I'm talking about is about around 5 inches long.  The best thing about it is the end where liquid exits: it is a very clean-cut hole that yields an easy-to-direct stream that doesn't dribble all over the place.  Also has a nice arc to it.  I've never had it back up on me.  Oh, and the vinyl end is a bit more comfortable & gets a better seal, I think.

I'll put up pictures of one I made as soon as I get back to my apartment this weekend.

Sounds great Eryk. As for my medicine spoon it's a bit of a whack mod. I took one of those ear bulb cleaner things to extend the spoon and make it more comfortable. I still haven't perfected the technique to use it but it's better than it was. :P

Oh sweet that could definitely work. Now I just need to find an excuse as to why I need to buy a gigantic medicine dropper. ;D Or hope my mother has some lying about with her nursing gear and won't notice one. Doubt she has one though.

Sorry this took so long.  Here are some pics of the STP I made using a large medicine dropper.
