Title: Louisiana Birth Certificate Changes
Post by: HowSoonIsNow on December 30, 2008, 07:56:03 PM
Hello,

Is there anyone from Louisiana that has successfully petitioned the courts for a name and gender marker change on their birth certificate?

We have been told by the various gov't powers that be that we cannot petition for these changes on our own--that a lawyer is needed. We would prefer to accomplish this on our own and are looking for advice from anyone out there who has experience and can offer advice with making changes to birth certificates in the State of Louisiana.

My husband (FTM) has all his other documents (passport, SSN, driver's license etc.) changed to reflect his name and gender marker changes, but we are having a hard time with the State of LA on the birth certificate.

Thanks for any help!
:)

Hello,
I am FTM here.
I was born in Louisiana too. I found out same thing and I know it is hard to get my BC changed to male in LA.  I am able to get my drivers license changed in my state (MN) fine.
I found your post from my google search.
