Title: Coming out

Should I figure out how to tell my family about my situation now, or after my first meeting with a Therapist? I don't think with my sister it would make a difference. I can see her understanding pretty easily. My mom on the other hand :( I'm not to sure she would even believe a Therapist. :'(

With the way you look, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise for them to take, or I shouldn't think, I don't know you're family. I had a couple of people tell me it wasn't much of a shock...they saw it coming.
I would write them a letter, best to get it all out in the open, you never know, they might surprise you. You have to tell them eventually, so may as well get it over with.

Ive been giving this a bit of thought. Who would i tell and how, also what order?
i just keep thinking that i cant tell anyone! feel like i'd be letting them down.
Although i would tell my mum, which is strange because she would kill me. She is really old fashioned she wont let me bring my cell phone into her house because she thinks they kill people, she says that global warming is caused by rockets going up into space and leaving a hole in the atmosphere, she also said that there was no drugs in the sixties, i bought her favourite tv show on dvd, she broke the cd player by trying to put it in, i bought her a dvd player but she wont plug it in because the blue light makes her nervous, and yet she is the only perosn i would tell when im ready to!!! - makes no sense
But the one thing i would say to her is...
your love for me is important too me, i need it but there is no point accepting your love if i dont love myself, wether you still love me or not this is something i need to do inorder to start to enoy life (playing at the heart strings!)
try putting together a list of everyone you want to tell, organise them in order of the people you think will accept it to the people you think wont, then go down the lst and tell them. once you have told the poepl you think will accept it they will back you up and the people that wont accept it may be pursauded by the people that already do as no one likes being left out of anything
thats my theory anyway

consider telling them after discussing it with your therapist. It is a big issue, and therapists seem to be pretty helpful on this issue. Only one chance to do this right.

I would talk to a therapist first, my therapist is helping me find ways to tell my 89 year old stepfather, after looking at posts on this site and discussing it with him I'm starting to get an idea how i want to do it.
