Candidates are lining up to run for governor of the Golden State and one of those testing the waters, but still not officially announced as candidate. In a poll by Sac Bee's Capitol Alert on November 3, the former advisor to the McCain campaign had her PR drone put out this statement.
"Because she is not yet a candidate for governor, we are respectfully declining to participate," said Whitman political adviser Mitch Zak. Whitman has not previously made a broad public announcement about supporting Proposition 8, but she has told GOP groups in the last week she supports the measure.
This puts Whitman as the only prospective candidate -- Dem or Republican -- who supports the hate amendment.
