So is the issue. I would like to do that but the officials say no. After SRS I have a plan to change my birthcertificate.

Sadly yes sweetie, most places that do allow gender marker changes only allow it after SRS.

And some places will not allow it to be changed no matter what, and at that, its only an amended cert. The original does not change as its impossible to go in and change microfilm that is decades old.
You need to check your local laws.

New York State, I just sent in all the required documents and the Dept. of Health changed it and issued a new certificate two months post-op

Well that leaves me out. I'll have to check my state on my own. Thanks anyway. I'm sure it helps others.

No problem, but I may have just gotten lucky. Most of my success was happening to run into sympathetic clerks on one of their good days. YMMV.

Well at least in the States, and only in the states that will do it, you are issued a new BC, one that is amended, but the original record does not change.

Quote from: SomeMTF on January 04, 2009, 12:53:02 PMI believe Ohio is one of the few states that does not allow any changes to the cert once it has been made. It sucks.
More information: changes are not allowed after the certificate is given.
Though in Illinois, I had a wonderful experience. I just received my new Birth Certificate and not only does it say that I'm female. IT IS AN ORIGINAL! It does not say amended ANYWHERE! When I had my name changed, my BC came back listed as amended. But now after my SRS as far as the state is concerned I was born female!
I always knew that, of course, but now the state agrees with me!

I'll have an image of my new cert up in a bit.

For example in case Christian values would become very strong and I am married to man they can use my BC to destroy the marriage.

A passport can be used instead of a birth certificate. Many immigrants do not have birth certificates.

The key words are International use. Anywhere out side of your own country you would be an equal to an immigrant as most people that travel do not carry a birth certificate.

lo
changing id yes name and stuff can be done by depoll without having had SRS or even be on a hormone regime
but changing your sex to female from male on passport, birth certificate, driving license etc i would of thought would be abit more difficult no matter where you live. Cause genetically u are still male untill you have SRS and surgery ::) :-\ :o

Genetically you are still male after SRS surgery. You only change your physical appearance.

Quotewant it as requirement for legal recognition. However it is not.
You can run into legal difficulties such as bathrooms during real life test. So FFS with a doctor letter is good to establish that you are not falsely presenting a gender for illegal means. So courts and police will suspend judgments in those gray areas. Especially on ID's.

QuoteAfter SRS I should be just treated as male because I cannot afford FFS.
Well people do not see what is between your legs. If you look like a male you will be treated like a male. Now for legal purposes like getting a discount on insurance no body is going to looking at you.
Most of life you are judged on how you look not what you passport tells. Only for legal reasons do they look at your papers. If you buy something at a store and the clerk says here is your change sir. Are you going to whip out your birth certificate and tell him you are a women?

What I said for all social reasons you will treated on how you look. For legal reasons you will be legally female. If you papers do not match how you look in both cases you are going to be questioned and run into problems. Just as very butch females are discriminated against. Or very feminine males have trouble finding work etc.

i am saying you cannot change your sex on a passport or a birth certificate from male to female until u
have had SRS not in the UK anyhow maybe in USA you can i dunno i dont know. And FFS dont always produce good results anyhow u can still be read or u just look like plastic from what i seen
Most of the girls i know over here dont need that anyhow they started on hormones and things when young so.............
