Anthony Niedwiecki, a Nova Southeastern University law professor and gay rights activist, is officially running for the Oakland Park City Commission. I wrote a profile of Niedwiecki and his partner, Waymon Hudson, in 2007.

Niedwiecki has made a life of working for the full equality of the entire LGBT community, from fighting to raise the awareness of hate crimes to fighting for more legal protections for the transgender community in Broward County and the City of Oakland Park . He also worked tirelessly on trying to defeat Florida's Amendment 2 this past November, speaking at town halls, organizing rallies, and getting cities to pass resolutions opposing the harmful amendment.

um... the article is a paid political advertisement. :D

But I hope Steve Niedwiecki wins. He is an activist and a contributor to The Bilerico Project - Florida. Its not a site I visited more than a couple times, but Steve's partner, Waymon Hudson, is a frequent contributor to our friends at The Bilerico Project (http://www.bilerico.com/) (the original version.) If Waymon approves of Steve enough to hold tight to him, he must be pretty special.
