Title: web hosting
Post by: scarboroughfair on January 10, 2009, 07:37:52 AM
I got into the domain/hosting reselling bussiness.

I had no problems with the products I used through the company I resell for, but since I've become a reseller I've seen the "ugly" side! lol

I think I'm outta bussiness before I got started! I will not rip people off!!!!!!

Bite me!

People mean more to me than money ever will....

But anyways, I'm buying and spending money I don't have on all the products in my store.

Most are good, but the "free hosting is f___in garbage!

I can't lie to perspective customers!

We'll see where this goes! lol

I will tell the there is thousands of resellers out there, but at least I'm honest enough to inform them of the "limitations" of what I sell....

As far as free webhosting goes, it largely depends who you get it from. Most don't allow the .htaccess files, that come with the SMF installation package, to be uploaded, which means you can't run an SMF based forum from them (at least not with any degree of flexibility or control), and the bandwidth/storage limits usually mean your database can't be overly large, either.

Then there's the ads... and they are majorly annoying. I've only found one halfway decent provider that will allow the file upload and doesn't (as far as I know) put any ads on your site.

I didn't realize it's so grizzly a business.

It's probably because I pay for my hosting.  It's really cheap and I can do anything I want with it.

I considered moving the site to a free one, but I guess it would be a hassle. I don't like hassles.

I like the fact that you think more of people than money.

Be honest because cheating will catch up to you. Your customers will appreciate it and so will your conscience.
