Title: where do you girls find jeans?
Post by: lizard on January 29, 2009, 01:48:06 PM
So, i have no hips butt or thighs, and im having a heck of a time trying to find jeans that fit.  Like, even when i try the "slim fit" jeans, they fit on the waist but are too baggy around the hip/thigh area, and tends to make me look boyish.  Any brands or something I should look out for?

I just go to a specialist jeans outlet and talk to their 'fitter'. They are really good at finding stuff that will work for your body shape. If they can't then you might be out of luck.

Have you considered wearing some boy jeans? Like a tight fitting boot legger or something? They look really fem and nobody can tell the difference. I know lots of chicks that wear boy jeans.

I've been buying mine at PacSun. You can usually find one in the mall, and they often have them on sale for $20. They come in short, regular and long, and have many different fits available. The staff is normally great at helping you find a fit that compliments you.

if your problem is that the slim fit isn't slim enough even though the waste is comfy, I would look into some of the designer jeans, they can be quite pricy, but they usually run very slim in the legs.

i've bought some from delias before and they are very slim fitting!

In the UK I tend to buy "stretch" jeans that are slightly tight on the waist and avoid the "low-rise" hipster cuts (I also go for jeans that have a long leg length or are in a tall range).... ::)

...other than that, I can find girl jeans fit just fine from most of the major fashion chains here...

Sounds like you need some junk in the trunk!  HRT has helped me fill out some and so has reducing workouts.  (Ohhhh, did I just say that?  ::))

My experience is strech jeans are good.  Low rise can work since they are intended to fit lower on the hips where women are bigger.  But there's a lot of versions of low rise and the lowest seem to look best on skinny girls.

I completely agree with Julie. About 4 months into my HRT, I suddenly had hips and a small butt. Not much yet, months later, but I'm hopeful I will continue to see some growth in that area. In the meantime, the lowest rise jeans I can find, as skinny as possible, and preferably with buttons and designs on the back pockets, all help to make you look that much better

well hrt is a go... 1.5 months in or so.  But im also pretty skinny to begin with so im not expecting much.  Yeah i may check out skinny boy jeans.  there is a pac sun in the mall, i'll check that out.  What kind of specialty jeans outlets are there? I guess im not sure what to look for when you say that.  At least I live in a city, so i should be able to find most stores.

I'm 6'1", so my first battle was finding jeans long enough. That's how I stumbled upon PacSun. Not many places sell a "long" that is actually long. In addition to the length, I was looking for a skinny jean (because I will NOT wear baggy jeans ever again in my life!), but also one that made my butt look bigger. Even with the new HRT growth in that area, I really don't have much.

So, when I went into PacSun, I was immediately approached by a young girl who offered to help. I told her I had no a$$, needed long jeans, and could she help? She did, I bought, and now I love my jeans. You can likely find a better fit/look with much more expensive jeans, but these worked for me.

I am also really tall so I've used old navy and gap for the tall cut.  They fit better than guy jeans ever did, tbh.  I will echo what was said about the low rise cut as well.

I hate shopping for jeans, or pants in general. Actually, I think that's a pretty common problem for women -- women's legs come in more shapes than men's, so it's harder to get a good fit.

I'd suggest the junior's section or a store with a younger target market. Younger women tend to be less curvy, and the jeans marketed to them tend to be a bit more overtly feminine in styling, which can help. I found a great pair at Ross -- cheap too, of course -- from the designer YMI, which is aimed at pretty much a teenage market. Well, I'm shaped more like a teenage girl than a thirty-year-old woman, so that worked for me.

Levi's 501 jeans are my fav. but I do have some others. Been thinking about trying a pair of Victoria's Secret jeans. They seem to cater to tall skinny girls  ;)

I have a pair of pants (not jeans) from VS that looks good. But I think I was really lucky -- pants are the one type of clothing I'm most reluctant to buy online. I wish they had retail outlets that sold their clothes -- but not the Pink line -- rather than just lingerie.) They have some good reasonably priced basics. I have a simple cotton sweater from them that I just love.

Another thing -- I tend to look for styles a lower waist, because you get a lower waist by making a wider wasitband.

ive been tempted to see if VS jeans fit.  I have a nice pair of pants from them that looks good, but they are a dressy pant and definatly not tight fitting (and not ment to be)

Jeans made with a stretch fabric seem to work well. Conforms to your shape and holds your stuff together nicely. Gotta Know your sizes......

Levi's 501 jeans are my fav.
As mine for over 40 years now. I'm only angry the quality isn't what it used to be. But I'm a nice, comfy size 12. Now if I can only get back into size 10's I was a few (ok, more than a few) years ago. Yeah, right...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I still love my 501's, but they're not the same as when I was young  :P

I'm super lean too.  I've found stretchy jeans in the section for young girls that fit the way I like.  The way I test the stretchiness: if the waist is stretchy, (I just visually can tell the right size / stretchiness combination), the jeans tend to fit pretty close to the way I like.  (Some stretchy jeans have little or no give in the waist - I don't bother even trying those on.)  I keep an eye out for Buffalo brand - they seem to have a lot of different styles.

I usually cruise used and second time around type stores.  I've picked up new designer jeans for five bucks. It doesn't hurt if you can mod them too.  If the waist is just right you can play a bit with how high you wear them for boo-t axentu-A-shun.  Add cool euro style spats or knee-highs and you will def get noticed.

Good luck!

Being 6'1" and a size 8 jeans makes it difficult to find the proper length 8t at most places.I was out with my exwife doing some shopping and she suggested we try this store called Vanity http://evanity.com/. (http://evanity.com/.) This place was awesome. They had all sorts of dress pants their size 9 x 35" inseam and jeans in a 28"w 37"inseam. I also bought a couple of shirts. Definitely a place for tall women to find nice trendy pants. They were on sale and affordable.
I have heard of Tall Girl Shop http://www.tallgirlshop.com/us/ (http://www.tallgirlshop.com/us/) I am thinking of going there this weekend.
